Hello Everyone,
We ware holding a trial November 3-4 and several of us want to complete an AD examination. However, I can't find guidelines for it anywhere in the new IPO rules. Have they deleted this as a requirement for the breed survey? If not, who then is responsible for approving and maintaining the rules and where can I get them?
Thanks,
Cheri

Hi Cheri,
First of all, the judge for your trial should be able to answer all your questions regarding the AD.
If you have anyone that can translate from German, here is the German SV rules for the AD:
http://www.sv-hannover-mitte.de/pdf/Ausdauer_PO.pdf
If you don't have someone that can translate this, here a synapsis:
Weather cannot be over 22 Celsius. Dogs have to be at least 16 months old. A maximum of 20 dogs can participate at one AD test.
Results can either be "Passed" or "Failed". There are no scores.
You have to ride a distance of 20 km with a speed of 12-15 km/h on possibly different kinds of surfaces (e.g. asphalt; hiking trails). Dogs have to run (on leash) on the right side of the bicycle, "Springer" attachments are accepted, otherwise the leash should be in handler's hand. Dogs have to run steady, a lagging dog may fail.
First break: after 8 km - rest for 15 minutes, followed by 7 km bicycle/run and a second break of 20 minutes length. The judge will examine the dogs during breaks and will check paws and dog's overall constitution.
After running the remaining distance there will be a third break of 15 minutes; during this break the judge will evaluate the dogs.Dogs that are overly tired or dogs with injuries will fail the test.
It is recommended that the judge participates on his bicycle or follows by car.

Hi T & T.......I found the guidelines on several different sites. Thanks.
I realize the judge will be able to answer all questions but there was a rule I read some where that stated the AD had to be performed on a different day and now I can't find that. Our trial is only two days and I want to do the BH and an AD so wanted to make sure it was possible and if so, get it on the trial schedule prior to the trial.
Anyone else have any input?
Thank,
Cheri

We just had our trial. We ran the IPO and FH dogs on Saturday and the AD and BH on Sunday. This is the second year we have done this. Our club is a USCA club.
I believe an AD is considered 1 phase so you would have to take that into account.

I did a BH 20 minutes after completing and AD (with two dogs, a friend held the leash for one) though it was an RKNA trial.

Wow...I'm impressed VKGSd's.....Don't know if I can manage that mentally. This is my first trail with my first working dog and I'm trying to be very confident about it but I'm still a little nervous.
