Dawulf

by Dawulf on 10 October 2012 - 02:10

For those of you following my Golden girl the past month or so, through her pyo, and the battle to get her surgery done, I thought I'd post a little update real quick.

Yesterday we drove her back out to Avoca to get her stitches out (which took all of about 30 seconds - she was so good about it). Doc said it has healed up nicely, so she is officially allowed back up on her couch, and to go without the cone. Afterwards we took her to the park nearby and let her explore a little. She ran a bit, and then suddenly looked over at me, hit the ground and starts rolling in the leaves!

It is amazing how happy she is now, and how good she is feeling! Hexe, you weren't kidding when you said she'd be acting 5 years younger! I wish I would've brought my real camera along with me, instead of just using my phone. Ah well!

Thanks again everyone for your support thoughout the whole mess! It paid off! :)

So glad she is doing well, what a beautiful fall picture of her;  best of luck with her,  12 for a goldie is damn good.  Be healthy Jewel, be happy.  Nan

I was just thinking about Jewel today. The photo of her having a blast in the leaves is wonderful - I bet she feels like a new girl!

Oh, I was hoping we'd see some new pics of her soon...figured you'd probably get some once she was shed of that blasted 'cone of shame' that they all hate so much. She looks so, sooo GOOD!!  Yep, nothing like a roll in the leaves,[or grass or snow] to demonstrate just how GOOD a dog is feeling.  My Hexe always used to make 'snow angel dogs' in the winter, right up until a few months before she passed. It's one of my favorite candid shots of her.

Dawulf, I am so happy for both Jewel AND for you, in addition to being so impressed with your resolve to do the right thing and then see it through.  I know of tons of forty- and fifty-year olds, many working in supervisory positions, who could learn a great deal from you.  I predict you will go far in life. These pictures of Jewel are going in my 'cyberdogs' file, since she's won a spot in the hearts of so many people who will likely never even get to meet her.

Great news about Jewel being so happy... it's 18 months since my girl had pyo and since the op she has been a different dog, even learning to swim after 9 years of paddling.

Please do get your mum [or whoever feeds her] to keep an eye on Jewels weight, it piled on Kira after the op, so she had to go on a diet and now she gets fed less than she did before and has a beautiful sylph like figure.

Carry on enjoying life Jewel in the leaves Thumbs Up
