Why I love herding:
     Training can't be forced ; it's real
     Don't need a helper
Don't have to sit and wait with my dog in a crate for hours at club to work her for 5 minutes
     Can work when I'm ready
Can work until my dog "gets" what we're working on
Can work as often as needed
     Have goat herd at home
Sheep are only 20 minutes away
My dogs LOVE it and it is always rewarding to work them

Joan, you need to click on the SHARE button and make a link....from the URL that shows... You can not copy the URL from the status bar...that does not work!!! I need to drop the kid off... I'll be back and see if you figured it out!

Is that you? That's quite a lot of goats! What do you do with them all besides herd them? LOL Thanks for sharing by the way! Very interesting.

Eat them :) that's me, I've been training Chekta for a couple months, getting her ready for AHBA title. I was working her on sheep and had to break her from taking the sheep down. The brown doe she goes after periodically, hit her hard about a week ago and turned her a flip, took the wind out of her sails temporarily. Teaching her not to grab them and being allowed to be firm with them caused some conflict with her. So, it took a couple sessions for Chekta to learn that she is allowed to get after a belligerent animal and put them in their place. She likes to let Browny know who's in charge now.
