I could use a little advise here. Regular Smile I am amazed Beau can just devour these chicken parts, skin and bones and meat, just like that, and it is gone. I'm using Steph's protocol I think, using the chicken with bones for the morning. The other meal is hamburger, yogurt or I have been using cottage cheese because that is what was bought, and an egg. I think I gave him two meals with an egg in it. So, I'm thinking can I over do it with the eggs? Is there a limit? We have been feeding him three times a day, and I'm not sure if Steph was doing two or three... but this guy has no problem eating whatever or whenever there is something put in his bowl, raw!

Oh, and Steph, you were right, I couldn't find bone meal for dogs in Petco yesterday when I returned the shipping crate, and I asked. Wondering

Bee, I use hamburger for lunch and dinner too/feed 3-4 times per day...no more goats milk...don't forget the salmon oil and vitamin E tablet from Costco...greek yogurt not too much or he gets diarrhea. Then give some canned pumpkin, Several times a week abit of liver, 4 oz. eggs several times a week...get some Probios too, forgot to give you that, like we did forget the microchip...sorry..have to run to Butte today to pick up the Acana and deliver 2 dogs and pick up 4 dogs...ugh!!!! Won't be home till late tonight, Sally and Steve doing chores for me..call me if you need anything...steph Limited cell service though, going over Skalkaho Pass, where I took you, but all the way over to the other side..;-)))

Bee...glad you are doing raw! Eventually Mojo will pick up that little bugger is getting better meals..and will demand his..LOL..

FYI..99% of butchers have what they call "dog meat" it is basically left over meat (beef, pork, chicken), skin, fat grounded into hamburger and is frozen in like 10 pound bags as a solid block. My butcher has "mix" version of all meats and separates of just beef... I usually get beef and its like $7.80 - $8.00 for the 10 pound bag, some butchers will bring out a few bags and you can pick and choose, the lighter the hamburger the more fat it has unless it is mostly chicken...just make sure to ask them to cut it for you in cubes it is a BIG mess if u ask hubby to do it or wait 2 days for it to defrost..LOL..i give it to my dogs frozen and it takes them a good 15-20 min to eat it...basically its a meatsickle.

Also keep in mind Thanksgiving is coming up, days after Thanksgiving go to the stores and buy turkeys (I buy like 10 turkeys for $60.00) 1 turkey can feed my dogs for 3 days depending on a size (that comes out like $2.00 a day of raw food). Best deals, best meat, cheapest price. I had a lot of luck with Bi-Lo and surprisingly Wal Mart.

Steph, Thanks, I'll pick some up today... and feed him 4 times, I think he'll be okay with that. LOL No worries, here, just take care of  "biz"! The dogs need you!

LadyFrost, great tips! I'm going to print that off for DH, he's getting interested in butchers all of a sudden. Beau just conked out at my feet, again! And I discovered he will play fetch and bring it back, too. Plumb tuckered him out.LOL

Finally, real hamburger, yogurt and pumpkin... All gone!
Just came back from the store... and he is scarfing down hamburger, greek yogurt and pumpkin like there is no tomorrow. Thumbs Up

I'm going to have to get a Costco membership if we keep this up. LOL The probiotics are $$$ !  Have to get my glasses out to read the fine print... now what do I do with it? The Salmon oil too, how often, how much? Also, anyone know.... how many is too many eggs?

Beetree, I read thru your menu for your new cutie pie puppy, what a doll,  the only thing I would recommend is watch  your egg whites;  it used to be said that they block some calcium absorption;  so with a growing puppy who needs every bit he can get, I would not overfeed the egg whites, yolks are OK.  JMO for safety,  Nan

Can we see more pic's??  Good luck with the little fella, N

I was under the impression that the avidin in eggwhites bound to biotin, not calcium. I would say that eating whole raw eggs a few times a week is ok. I don't feed them every meal, maybe two times a week, or three. Mostly, I end up eating or cooking with the eggs, not the dogs ;-)

Well I think the eggs are okay for adults, however, am not sure about puppies Beetree's pups age;  just a cautionary thing, there are lot of other things to feed  him.  Just don't overfeed egg whites to puppies.  Until research proves different;  just be aware.  Nan

I was mixing in egg yolks only in the milk formula, while weaning and supplementing.  NO WHITES until they are older. Bee, follow the recipe I gave you for a 20 pound puppy, but cut in almost half, since he is 14.5 pounds of muscle!!!! LOL..
He can get egg YOLKS only a few times a week is all.
