Not again....for heaven's sake, what well in hell are we selecting LEO candidates? If they'll forget their 4-legged partner and PROTECTOR like this, why should others believe that these individuals will put anyone else's safety and well-being ahead of themselves?
Can't wait for summer to be over and there's a respite, even if just temporary, from these tragedies.
Join your compadres at the Bridge, Harley, I'm sure there are plenty of people up there who will welcome you and try to make amends for the one that failed you here. You deserved far, far better than what you received.

I already posted about this today, but the database won't let me link to my original post, so I'll just cut and paste:
WHY does this keep happening? I'd like to see PDs set a new rule: anyone who leaves their K9 for any length of time in the cruiser without the AC running will be REMOVE from the K9 unit!
If us ignorant regular dog-owners know enought not to do this, why doesn't the PD??
Every year in the summer, our local media has a blitz to educate people about the dangers of pets being left in cars even when the temperatures MAY seem cool enough outside. How come K9 officers don't get the message?
Sad, so sad....

We have K9 Car alarms in our Police vehicles, if it gets to hot or cold or if the vehicle shuts off the officer receives an alarm. If they had an alarm and its broke why in the world would these Officers leave their K9 in the car. Makes me sick I don't see how you are allowed to be a K9 Officer if you don't care for animals. I'm sorry, if you are leaving that poor dog in the car even if the air is working for long periods of time you don't care for animals.

I can't believe this is happening. I know this is an exaggeration, but it feels like half of the US' police dogs have died this summer.

Oh no, not ANOTHER one. Poor Harley. When will people - LEOs and the public - 'GET IT'
that it does NOT need to be abnormally hot, for it to be unsafe to leave dogs (and babies)
sitting in cars ????
