I own two black and tan GSDs. I am getting my first Sable GSD in a few weeks and i an anxious to find out what kind of Sable she will be? The the rest of her siblings seem to be so dark and more of a black and tan coloring. Her litter is "P" http://www.tontitrailgermanshepherds.com/Tonti_Trail/Puppies.html

She will probably be either a red sable or can go very dark. They change alot in color until they are
almost 2 yrs. old

The Dam (Quella von Hayden) for my pup is all Black and the Sire (X'presso von Hayden) has similar coloring to your Dam.

My pup at 6 weeks was almost a Fawn color with a thin black stripe down his back. He started getting darker his tail was a Fawn color with a thin black stripe around it. Then at 14 weeks his undercoat was mostly light Brown. Now at 18 Weeks he's getting really dark, his tail is almost all Black. You will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out a Sables final color lol They change SO much and in only a few weeks time. I bet he'll be beautiful regardless, keep us updated on his color changes and good luck :)

Dam. You have 2 years before you know for sure what color she is; they change seasonally and don't really have their "final answer" coat until about 2, ime. The best gauge is the color they were when they were born; they usually go back to that in adulthood. She may not be as dark as her dam; her one sister will likely look just like Mom, but maybe got some better/deeper coloring from Dad.

Just what Jenni said. Your P litter girl may well get somewhere near her mother in colour; very much doubt that she'll ever go as dark as her sire - but anything is always possible, because they do change so, as they grow up. She has a very pretty face, however strong her colour gets !

I love her color. Looks like she will be more like her Mother- a patterned sable. Either way, she's a cutie!
