I also work in a service industry - I work for/help manage a HelpDesk in the IT department for a college. We do have Service Dogs on campus and I make sure that they and their owners are *always* accomodated, generally quite far above and beyond our usual service level agreements. One is a blind leader dog and often the work we do on his owner's computer can take several hours so we make sure to have a place for her to sit where her dog is not being taunted or trampled. I've explained to my team that the dog is a working dog; the "no dogs indoors on campus" does *not* apply to him and we are not to touch him or attempt to handle or distract him in any way and should not allow anyone else in the department or any other customers to interfere. IMO if you work in a service industry then there really is no excused. I've been bitten by multiple lab dogs but that doesn't mean I *kick* the labrador leader dog!

I would talk to a lawyer and file a suite against them; NO ONE, but NO ONE is allowed to even touch my service dog or any dog I have in training with me.
They need their hands slapped and a law suite and maybe next time they will remember to treat both human/canine with respect and a little dignity. You would have heard me screetching and screaming thru the whole G>D> airport. So sorry for your mishap I bet another airline would accommodate you. Best of luck Nan
