couple of questions about dog parks
do you think they can boost a dogs confidence with other dogs?
Also have you guys often scene owners get into fights over dogs?
Have your working dogs ever sliced another dogs tonue so fast that got aggressive with it but it happend in a split second the owner shrugged it off like their dog just bit their own tongue?

1. If you had the luxury of selecting the right dogs, yes. Since we don't have that luxury, no.
2. Yes, and it's usually due to a dog fight or a dog having inappropriate behavior.
3. Not sure I understand your question.
Dog parks are not my favorite place to take a dog- I've seen too many bad incidents and too many ignorant dog owners there who have no business bringing their dogs.
Sorry for the lack of paragraphs- using my iPhone.

The usual "core" vaccination schedule is likely not enough if you take your dog to a dog park.
Get at least DHLPPC plus Bord not just DHPP, if you take your dog to a dog park, a haven for germs.

Bordatella I could care less about, I would be more worried about dog flu.
I think that pet stores and vet clinics would harbor more germs than a dog park that is exposed to the elements. fresh air, rain, sun, hot and freezing temps do a lot to kill pathogens.
You have to be so careful if taking a dog to the dog park.
Don't go to parks with a known tick issue (in my experience, this is ALL metro parks) Don't go to parks where the local population has a high machoism (gangs or gang wannabes with pits, rotts, etc.) If you see a lot of dog poop lying around, then leave.
I occasionally go to the dog parks in our area. These are my personal criteria.
Never take a puppy under 4 months, never take an intact dog over 18 months, never take more than 2 dogs (I make an exception for my little dogs, I will take all 3 of my small breed dogs and use the small dog section.) Never take a dog with known social issues (dominance, bullying, possessiveness, etc. they should never go to a dog park) If the dog park offers a small dog section, then take puppies under 40 lbs in that area. Never go when it's crowded, 6 dogs is my limit...if there are more than 6 dogs in the fenced in areas then I don't go in. If someone else's dog is showing any suspicious behavior, then I leave. I don't sit/stand around talking to other dog owners, I follow my dogs where ever they go.
If you do not feel confident in your ability to understand canine body language, then don't go to dog parks. If you do feel confident, well I hope it's justified and accurate.
I'm fortunate that the dog park closest to me is in a very nice, upscale neighborhood, so the dogs tend to be pretty nice and lazy. There are 3 sections of the dog park (including a small dog section.) So I have choices. I've probably gone there 100 times over the last 8 years or so, and I can only recall one time ever witnessing a real argument between dog owners (several owners wanted a man to take his bullying dog and leave, he did) Most of the time if someone is asked to leave because their dog isn't behaving well then they sheepishly do leave.

Vet clinics are a compromised place to take a pup to. It may be a necessity for vet check, but for vaccination of young pups the vet is actually a risk.
Staff will clean up after an accident at Petsmart, where I don't go.
Dog park is a pathogen laden place, don't deny or overlook it. Real danger for germs associated with the non-core vaccines and parasites.

I have or had or will have no use for DOG PARKS at all.
And my pups have never been in a vets office. My vet knows how I feel and he comes out to my truck .....
FOR my check before the sale.
My vet does nothing for me but a check before the sale. I do all my own shots, wormers, and nothing else I need.,,,till OFA..
Vacinations are done on my trailer at the 2nd saturday sponsored by a Vet who has a Bring your PET and he will discount Rabies and give it to your dogs on your trailer, or in your vehicle...NO contact with the ground or the vets tables or floors..
Take dogs to school grounds, indoor tennis courts, Schutzhund trial fields. or training field , or State Parks, or City Parks... after you have your vaccines in place or have had dogs tested for their immunities in place.
