We've just relocated to TX and I'm wondering what preventives others are using or find most effective for the region. So many choices and, of course, different vets have different recommendations. Our last vet had them on Revolution, but apparently it's not as popular here as I've yet to find a vet that carries it.
Which meds/combos do you find work best? Thanks.

I use Dawn Diswashing soap on the cocker spaniel for her shampo.
Frontline does not work for me'
I use DE in kennels and on grounds and in flowerbeds.
I use odo ban on concrete floors and have no fleas or bugs anywhere . ODO ban keeps ants out of kennel also
DE is put on dogs and a pinch in their food
HAS to be FOOD GRADE written on the sack of DE>

TOO many chemicals for too many things on one poor animals hide???Invasion of the LIVER big time.
I warn about Ivemec also...I use it very spareingly...
NOW my friend in Michigan just pmed me and said all of the puppies in her kennel get a dossing down of a GARLIC rub for prevention of fleas.
grind your 3 cloves of garlic in stone bowl...put in a container with 2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil....mix and put on a clean pup..FIRST..wash pup with Dawn , rinse and dry..THEN apply the garlic rub.
Rub the oil of Garlic all over pup...PUT in a wire crate for 30 t0 45 minutes...then wipe off with a cloth and brush out all the dried ..
NO fleas...
I do not care what the pup smells like...it will vanish...better than chemicals...Put some nice smelling Oil on yur hands and rub on your puppy if the smell is too much for ya...Smell vs Fleas ? I choose smell.
and it works... I have always given garlic powder or crushed garlic from jar to my dogs..about three times a week...
not every day.
Luvmidog had told me when I met him he had used it on 7 shepherds he owned for years..Old timers have used it for ages..nothing bad ever happened so the myth that it is poison is not so.
One of the nutrients sold widely in USA and Abroad is Garlic in Wheat Germ for dogs..
