The lawyer firm tried to tell their disabled client to leave their GSD service dog outside because one of the lawyers has allergies. He should have just taken a benadryl.

You would think an attorney would know better concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act!

Runny nose allergies? Or the type of allergies that trigger anaphylaxis?  I say that because people tell me all the time to "just take a Benadryl" when it comes to flowers (I know we're talking about dogs), but the thing is......if I'm around flowers in a small building, my throat will swell shut.

GSDguy, I'll bet you LOVE women who douse themselves in perfume!

I am extremely allergic to the base scent used in cheap perfume. The problem is they put it in EVERYTHING these days: air fresheners, soap, detergent, menstrual pads, and....the latest!....even some brands of toilet paper!

I've never heard of anyone getting an anaphylactic reaction to animals, though I've seem extreme itchy eyes, runny nose, etc. in a kid that was petting a policeman's horse.

Sunsilver, it is possible to get an anaphylactic reaction to animals. A couple of years back I had to place a GSD due to that very reason. The job I was working at exposed me to so much mold every day that I developed numerous health issues. One of them being what I mentioned, and then other breathing and health problems that I won't go on to talk about......But every time I was around this dog (not sure why the Huskies didn't trigger it) in the house my throat would start to swell.....It was just him though.  I placed him and I felt better in the home at least, and after being out of that work place for a couple of years I am mostly better in a lot of the health issues.....no problems with dogs at all thankfully. Though where I worked "did" have flowers in it, and as I've been told that severe mold exposure can make you develop new "allergies" (in the sense I mentioned) if you are being exposed to something else in that environment.  But anywho.....  Oddly enough perfume doesn't typically bother me as long as it's not "too" strong. I wear colgne myself without problems, "Cool Water", it doesn't bother me thankfully. Some of the soap detergents make my skin break out though,  I'm also (this may just be because my body has changed) allergic to red gum, peanuts (inside of my mouth swells shut), peanut butter, can't eat apples without getting severely sick (crazy I know), and a few other things.
