I have a question about AKC late litter submissions. I hope someone can answer it for me.
Recently the AKC breeder relations department has developed a coupon which waives late litters for a small fee, no late fees. My Question is this......
Recently we lost our home, jobs and moved. Our AKC litter registrations suffered as least important. Finally this year we are finally back on our feet. We had eight litters we needed to catch up on, small litters_1-2) and no pups sold just shared with people we know. We are not a puppy mill. We are not even a kennel. This is over a five year period.
If you bred 2-3 litters per year, say you submitted 4-7 late litters in one calendar year, (these would be litters from the past years not the present year). None of the total litters submitted adds up to over three litters per each year. Does the AKC count these litters by the calendar year they were submitted? Or by the calendar year of their birth? Technically submitting the litters all at once could possibly trigger an inspection as a high volume breeder(or you could call it an audit). The number I have been told was once 4-6 litters but might be seven litters which triggers a "randon kennel inspection". Yet the dogs are all born in different calendar years, and by their definition we are not a high volume breeder. Does anyone on this forum have any input on this? Have you experienced anything concerning how many late litters submitted, is the limit for triggering their famous inspection WAIVED IF THE LITTERS ARE NOT ALL BORN IN THE SAME YEAR?
Thanks I would love to hear because AKC seems to be tight lipped on their continually changing policies.

Honestly what does it matter if they come and inspect???

i was thinking the same thing Bhall, do you have something to hide ZZZanna. as i know of AKC i thought it was 3 -4 litters in one year or 25 pups in the same year which ever is higher, so i would guess its not a problem , unless they change something. why do you need papers anyway, seems to me you never did want them if you waited this long.

I also thought who cares about the inspection, if they come they come, but I DO know, your late litter fee comes according to the whelp date ,common sense actually , that's why there is a different fee depending on your lateness. 6 months, over a year and so on. If it was dependant on when you file for them, there could be no late fee.
