These events were witnessed 6/9/12.Mark Roth was apparently training a dog for a client and the dog got off its leash. The dog wandered up onto my property searching for food. She was very sweet but malnourished and dehydrated. Mark was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, I fed the dog and gave it water.I looked on her collar to find that her name was Roux. In the middle of the night, my neighbor's dog fought with Roux and injured her. The dog was heard screamingall of the sudden, in the woods behind my house. I ran in to find her but she was scared and tried to bite. I asked mark to bring a lead. When he did, he said "if she fights, i'll hit her in the head one time, and drag her out." When I told mark that I know the dog needs medical attention,( my mother was a medic, I know when something is deep enough for stitches), he says to me "she's just a dog. She got herself into this, she can get herself out." Mark seemed absolutely unconcerned wih the situation. He claimed he called the vet and "left a message." then left to town. Meanwhile, I'm watching as the dog goes into shock. When he returned, I watched as he left the dog in a kennel and went in the house. I went on with my day because I knew there was nothing I could do without going to jail. Today, 6/10/12, I called mark to see what the vet said. Mark said the vet claimed it was superficial wounds. I looked out my window then and saw him take the now dead Roux around to the back side of his house and bury her. I am furious that someone so neglectful and mean to animals can run a business like this. I highly doubt the vet was called, I find it hard to believe the dog would just wander of the leash. I find it hard to loose a dog that had 3collars. One of which was a metal training collar with inward spikes Hearing the way this 19 year old kid talked about treating this dog, I would never, and will never allow any of my animals around him, I don't think anyone else should either. I wish there were a way to contact the dog's owner and tell him/her of their beloved animal's death because of this man's inadequacy as a trainer.

You witnessed all this, then you should contact the local police or sheriff and file a complaint against him. It shouldn't be too hard to back up what you've said happened if he's got the dog buried behind his house.

Yeah, Thomas, I believe it was also posted on here...that was a complaint from someone who'd purchased a dog that wasn't what it was promised to be upon delivery, though.

I agree with Hexe, I hope you have reported this to the police, animal control, anyone and everyone.

Completely stupid guy.
People who buy dogs from him aren't better...

Synni, are you talking about the bloody arm or the dog with the red harness on that is chewed/frayed and looks ready to break any moment?

Bloody Arm.

The problem is, in poplarville there's no animal control, and the police buy their dogs from him so they believe he is a good citizen. You wouldn't believe all the run around I've gotten since Saturday. No one will come check his property because they believe there is nothing wrong. We're talking about a town of 2500 people and he has grown up here.

Call your state's attorney general, then, because if the local police are ignoring the problem due to the fact that he's their K9 vendor, there's a conflict of interest, and they have no business investigating him in the first place. Also, suggest you reach out to the guy who posted here and on Leerburg last year, since he can attest to the condition the dog he received was in, and this may help enhance the credibility of your allegation to the attorney general. It will take persistance and perserverance on your part, but because you live on adjacent properties, you're probably one of the few advocates those dogs are going to have given the relationship between Roth and the local law enforcement. One other thought--do the MS State Police purchase their dogs from this guy also, or through other vendors? It may be worth contacting them as well--I believe they're supposed to handle situations where the local police have less than an arm's length relationship with the party of interest....
Good luck, and good on you for caring enough to be concerned about the dogs.
