When I went down this morning to take them out, there was mucousy, bloody diarreah on the floor. When I took him outside, he's like a faucet, clear liquid streaked with blood. Tried contacting his owner, not reachable right now. Not only is his vet over 40 minutes away, but I have two side jobs and have to leave within the hour and won't be returning for about 4-5 hours. I hate to leave him, but have no choice.
First of all, how foreboding is this sign, considering his condition? Second, is there anything I could/should feed him to try to stop it? Desperate here, help appreciated.

The dogs I board here sometimes get bloody, mucusy diarrhea from nothing other than stress. I would consider the dog's other symptoms before running to the vet. It could just be anxiety from being left alone.
If the dog seems its normal self, other than the diarrhea, it can certainly wait three hours.
Pumpkin (pure canned pumpkin, not the pie filling) is good for diarrhea, as it contains water-soluble fibre that helps the stool stay formed, and it also has anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe the bowel.

His owner is in the woods, in another state and cannot be reached, cell going directly to VM, so I'm assuming no service. On top of everything else, my car is in the shop and I have my daughter's Jeep with a bikini top, bucket seats. Pretty much an impossible situation, just hoping Jim gets my message and comes home sooner than planned.
