I have reserved a White Swiss shepherd puppy male with FCi pedigree in the beginning of February, when the puppies were born. The deposit was 500 euros and I send the money to the breeders account in Czech. The breeders confirmed by mail and phone that money has come to the account and reservation is valid.. The breeder told me, that I can choose a name for the puppy and I create a nice name for the puppy. The breeder told me I am the first on the list to choose the puppy and I choose it. Evereything looks fine, the puppies have been vaccinated, chipped and in 6 days I should go to Czech to take my puppy. But yesterday the breeder informed me, that I can not buy this puppy and I will receive my money back. I was shocked, without words. What can I do? Inform FCI and Czech kinology? I am a really honest person and I do not know, what to think about this. What all sorts of breeders can I expect in future?
My dear slovenian, don't be shocked yet because that breeder might just as well deny recieving your money. Instead, be happy if you get a refund. I know how you feel now; decieved, broken hearted and taken for granted due to distance. Try and get your money back/ look for another puppy. This world is full of "fukushimas" who can deal with you without pity.
as long as the breeder sends your money back, they can certainly decide not to sell the puppy to you - until the puppy and money changes hands, it is their puppy to do with as they choose to. You are fortunate that the breeder appears to be honest and will return your money - you hear of many more stories on this board where they take your money and don't send a puppy.
To the O.P., yes, be happy if you get your money back.
Sorry for your disappointment.
It is a fun world this puppy buying business.
Count your blessings if you get your money back.
Many others aren't that fortunate.
As I understand, very few breeders refund depoists under any circumstnaces, and make this is understood before the deposit is paid and accepted. The deposit is just applied to the next available litter.
I would like opinions from EXPERIENCED breeders who have been through this:
What happens if a deposit is placed on a certain litter and that litter does not have the sex of what was wanted, Do you refund the depoist or do you apply it to the next litter as it was stated in the agreement before the deposit was accepted. He suggested the depoist be refunded. Also this particular person said he would take the puppy from the next litter and sell it. I am not really happy with this because I am careful who gets our babies. However, had I known about this person before I accepted the depoist, I would not be in this situtaion now. This person in the past, has called several breeders and has done the same to them. He has gotten his deposit back more than once, just because the breeders didn't want to deal with him any longer?
My heart tells me that since he understood everything, and I have offered him a partial refund, and yet he is not happy with that, I believe, its his loss...
PLEASE lets remeber, we all do things differently and just because we maynot do it the way others do it, does NOT make it a reason to bash others for the way they handle it. I am just trying to get a feel for the way others would handle this.
All of you are telling me that I should be happy to get my money back. it looks that I live on wrong planet because I am honest and my word is the same as written agreement. It looks that I am a kind of person who doesn't exist anymore? All these breeders who are declaring how they breed for improvement they breed for money. Yes, I was very shocked. Dissapointed. My daughter was crying all the night because she had bought toys for this little puppy, she has prepared bed for him, she has payed the agility course for her and this puppy. After I explained to her, that some people are bad, she sad..They are not bad, they are mean.
Did the breeder tell you the reason why you can not get the puppy?
Ibrahim
I wanted to hear her reason and explanation but she, the breeder said that she had an prebreeding arrangment with the owner of the stud dog and that she had forgotten about that arrangment.
You have all reason to be disappointed with this breeder. I think she just changed her mind and does not want to sell the puppy to you. I suggest that you first get back your money in full and then you can think of your options, starting this thread before getting back your money is not the best to be done, some of the European breeders are too "proud" of themselves and "stubborn", maybe if she finds you've started a discussion on the net about her she won't be happy and things will get complicated and not for your favor.
Ibrahim
