"Right before the champion was picked, two PETA members were stopped by security as they tried to reach the center ring, drawing boos from the crowd. A few years ago, two protesters from PETA disrupted the presentation."  Ben Walker AP wrote in his report on the show.

I saw that!!! I asked my bf what the heck happened. I saw 2 guys grab someone after a little shriek and then the camera quickly panned to the GSD. I wondered what the heck that was about!!!

I was hoping it was someone protesting Romney strapping his dog to the top of his car.

Folks who show your dogs should be aware that PETA has on a number of occasions gone onto the grounds and opened up crates letting dogs loose.  Not so bad if you're in an indoor venue, but they've done it when the dogs could run into roads and be killed. (happened in Springfield Mass many years back and a Borzoi was killed) Good idea to padlock your crates even if your dog's only alone for moments it takes to buy a hotdog or go to the bathrooms.  Somehow a dog being killed is okay, but being safely crated is not to PETA>

We don't hear much of this sort of thing in the UK but I'll be locking my crates from now on when out and about with the dogs if they're not attached to me directly.

Why on earth would someone want to do that? And furthermore, why would they grab someone? What were they going to do?

Sorry if it's explained int he report - can't open the link.
