Just in case you missed this very interesting article on service dogs in the NY Times Magazine (on Karen Shirk and 4 Paws for Ability).
I found it interesting to learn how 4 Paws for Ability trains their service dogs (eg. using prison inmates to obedience train the dogs and to train the dogs to perform fun tricks to appeal to children). I had no idea that service dogs could make such a big impact on the lives of children with special needs.
