Anybody have any feedback, good or bad, regarding shipping a puppy from Europe to the U.S.? Expected price, ways to make the process easier on the puppy etc???
Breeders for Europe usually don't guarantee puppies.....even if they did, the replacement cost is horrible expensive due to shipping.
Many American breeders have excellent Euro bloodlines and are doing a great job of breeding.
Why go to Europe for a puppy?
Why go to Europe?
Why not?
Not everyone wants to deal with a broker Sitasmom.
Sometimes they want to deal with people
that actually know their dogs/lines etc.
And they don't care about a guarantee.
I tell you why, because here in the US, we have pretty limited titled and proven genetic pool, that is why.... !
And the best breedings are usually taken before they even happen!
to the OP, no worries, puppies do this trip all the time and I have never had trouble.
Good luck
I'm like you, I was looking at importing a puppy from Czech, and my friend was looking up prices and averaged about $1,000-$1,200. Is that normal? I'm with GSDPACK, we have a limited gene pool (that being a good limited gene pool, some genetic lines aren't worth looking at). I do know that most don't guarentee any health, hip, elbows, which scares me too. I do recommend working with the breeder themselves and not with a broker, check out the post on Dalibor for reasoning on that (not saying all brokers are bad, but I wouldn't chance it).
This is my first post and I am liking the feedback already. It seems these threads can take on a life of their own!! I am looking at a puppy to bring over from Czech...WOW... what great history for the dog. I can't find anything close to it around here. A lot of fancy wording in the advertising, using catchy photos, but the dogs just don't even compare... but, that is in my limited opinion. I appreciate the feedback on the pricing. I will definitely check some of the mentioned options out. I want to find the best way to get the puppy over here, with out sending it into a PTSD fit!
Puppies make the trip everyday. The dog will be fine. I am of the mindset of why not emu from Europe? I fully agree with GSDPack. The breedings in europe are way better than here. Yes many breeders don't give a warranty but hell, getting a breeder here in the states to honor a warranty can be a bitch.
GSDPatrol.....you can get a damn good puppy in the price range of $400 - $700 USD.
