This is a 9 month old female.  I know one side looks good and the other is laxed.  Do you guys think they will improve?

wait until 1 full month after her first heat and re-do the x-rays...it really does make a difference...

You have to wait til she's older, and do wait after her hat 1-2 months after;the heads are well rounded, positioning could be better. Good luck

I don't think she will improve, socket is shallow, the ball is starting to flatten and there is too much thickening of the neck.  If you like the dog, it won't hurt to xray her again to be sure. If this were my dog I'd want her to be sedated for another xray.

If you got a handle on whatever is causing that subluxation (ie, was she hurt, favoring the leg, muscle wasting, etc.) and tightened her up, swimming, etc. you MIGHT be able to get a passing rating down the road. I had a dog similar to this once; once the injury that caused it healed there was no more damage to the femoral head or thickening of the neck and when muscle returned, they looked as tight as can be on the new xrays. Still some slight remodeling- you can't change that, but it was apparent that this was not a genetic condition due to the improvement.

WIthout further conditioning and an xray taken the correct time after her season; I do not think these would pass OFA;  they look moderate to me at this time with this x-ray.  So sorry,  Nan

Thank you all for your imput.  She is such a nice female that I am hoping they improve.

the positioning makes the right hip look worse then it is....the right leg pulled out and down.
if possible, swim the dog every day to strengthen the muscles in her legs and hips.
it does wonders!

I wouldn't give up on her YET at only 9 months the hips are lax and could very well tighten up.  I agree with Blitzen though, I'd be more concerned with the shallow socket (could be the positioning) and the thickened neck on that side.  Wait until she's one year old or more, make sure the x-rays are taken at least one month before or after her heat cycle, and get a vet who can position exactly straight, with knees straight too.  good luck!
