You guys seem really good at guessing the breeds so wanted to see what you guys think about my two mixes and get ideas on what they have in them.
I am also thinking about doing those DNA tests that you can buy to find out the breeds, but not sure on how well they work, anyone use them before?
Male (90 lbs but now losing weight, had cancer and gained weight due to inactivity) female (50 lbs.)
Male is sable in color and female is black and tan with black saddle on back.
I know they both have GSD but really not sure about what else, they are both rescues.

My guess would be German Shepherd and Siberian Husky.

I used the DNA test for my little mixed breed guy, I think they work just fine, but other ppl on the forum here didn't have good experiences with them. I had ours done at dnamydog.com.
I'm guessing the female is a husky.gsd mix and the male looks like an akita mix to me...just a guess....sable colour genes are within many breeds...

not sure on the male but the female looks like she is german shepherd and austrailian shepherd( because of one blue eye, one brown) just a guess

my guess for the female is GSD and husky.... the male I am guessing is GSD and Keeshound.

I think it's possible the male is purebred GSD with an incorrect head type, or he could possibly be a quarter rott, lab or akita and 75% GSD. If it wasn't for the female's wall-eye I'd say she is purebred GSD too. But I've never heard of a wall-eye in a GSD, has anyone else? So I vote for GSD-alaskan husky or siberian husky mix for the female GSD.
I don't trust those DNA tests to tell the breed at all. Far too many documented wild inaccuracies of breed-DNA testing on dogs with known parentage/pedigrees

Thank you all for your input! Very insightful.
That blue eye of my girls is a kicker. Along with husky, I have also heard border collie, and Malinois based on her face and body shape but again the eye throws a wrench into things. But being a mix there is more than likely more than two breeds, so who knows.
My male, great ideas there, I have also heard malamute because his front end is built like a Mack truck. He is shaped like a pear with his back end nice and tapered and his shoulder and chest area wide. my vet seems to think he is more GSD than anything, because some of his health issues and the cancer he had are seen way more in GSD than other breeds, according to the vet. He has pancreatitis, thyroid problems and had two mast cell tumors removed, one also caused him to have a toe removed.
Don't know if it makes a difference but he also has a dew claw on all four feet, not jut the front.
For pace my female has a quick short stepped focused heel and I have to work her to bring her up and flashy with her front feet. My male has a natural flashy focused heel, I never have to ask him to move up into it, he just does it naturally.
Thanks for the info on the DNA tests, I have been leery because they also ask you to send a photo so wasn't sure how much was based on science and how much was based on the photo.

generally speaking to have a mix with erect ears both parents must have that and juding by the tail and blue eye I would say husky

I'd say for the female a GSD/Aussie and for the male, a GSD/malamute.
Wanted to add, we sent in the DNA for our mutt. Now when we got him his previous owner said he was a Yorkie/Shih tzu... this dog is about half the height of my GSD, and very stocky. He weighs in at 30 lbs and has lost a lot since we got him. We thought there was no way he could be one of those, but we were curious enough to send it in. Didn't send in a picture or any other info other than his name. A couple weeks later we opened it up and what do you know - Shih tzu/Yorkie. He is my mutant.
