I am going to assume that this is a serious post.
The puppy should be with his mother until it is 8 weeks old. He should be with his mother nursing for a few more weeks.
In dire circumstances (such as mother died or is ill) the breeder should be feeding the puppies.

OH my goodness:(
Im sorry for the loss on your 8.5yr !
But Pharoah is right ,that pup needs to be sent back to the breeder and its mom untill it is 8 weeks.
Why did you get a pup that young? And why did the breeder let a pup go that young?

pro,
the pup should be with it's mother no less than six weeks, I do not like to let mine go until eight weeks.
It should only be ready to begin to eat solid food by four weeks and it should still be allowed to nurse even then for at least another week, depending on the mothers desire to continue nursing.
At six weeks it should begin receiving it's vaccinations before being exposed to the outside world beyond where it was born.
Your breeder sounds like someone who either doesn't know or doesn't care.
You sound like you need to learn how to care for a new puppy yourself.
Poor dogs.

pro, as everyone's already pointed out, puppies should stay with their mothers (and littermates) AT LEAST until they're 6 weeks of age, better if you leave them all together to 8 weeks of age...Not only does taking a pup away from it's mother too young leave the pup open to increased health risks, and possibly interfere with the pup's normal growth rate, it also deprives the pup of VERY IMPORTANT lessons to be learned from the mother and the other puppies about how to behave properly around other dogs and how to accept discipline for mistakes--puppies taken from their mothers and littermates before 6 weeks of age have a higher incidence of temperament issues as they mature because they missed out on this crucial socialization, and very often can be inappropriately aggressive with people if they perceive the person is trying to have the upper hand, as they didn't get the chance to learn about pack order from their littermates and their mom. :(
If the breeder absolutely refuses to keep the puppies any longer than their 4th week of age, do you think it would be possible for you to bring the mother and all the pups home with you, so they could be together for at least a few more weeks? That's what would be best for all parties involved--the mother, the pups, and the people who will be getting these pups... I must say I don't think much at all of any breeder who is so quick to disperse baby puppies before they're of a proper age--this is not a breeder to recommend to anyone looking for a well-bred dog, for sure; if the breeder doesn't know enough to keep the pups until they're at least 6 weeks of age, I doubt they know much about breeding, or the breed in general, either. I'd urge you to walk away from this breeder and find a better one to get your next dog from, but I know you've probably already gotten attached to this little pup after having fed and handle him yourself already...so I won't try to talk you out of bringing him home. ;)
My condolences to you on the loss of your 8.5 year old the splenic cancer...it is all too common a condition in the breed, sadly.
