All light heartedness aside, I hope you rehome him to someone who will care for him as any dog deserves to be cared for.
A bit of a different situation...........
I have a 6 month old pup her with me who belongs to his breeder. He is with me so that I can train him and I will always do my very best for him. But 10 days ago he was attacked by a much bigger GSD. The guilt and pain that I felt at not being able to protect him properly was awful and still hurts. He's recovering well but it will take a long time.
I know how much it must hurt you to see that he may have been abused. But rest assured that now he's with you he's healthy and getting stronger ready for his new home when you're ready to let him go again.

My male GSD, who WAS abuses is the most outgoing dog I have, ESPECIALLY with men! And the person who abused him (his first owner ) WAS a guy!

We fostered a Dutchie for two years and he was a great dog. He was very different than a Mal. He was pretty active, but not hyper. He was such a pleaser, intelligent and very focused. His only issue was he was not gunsure... a major problem for a working :( But, he was a wonderful family dog, very trustworthy and great with kids.
I sure hope this Dutchie finds a wonderful home.
