You teach focus first from the time the dog is a puppy before moving on to anything else and how you do this involves many things.
How old is the dog, what type of dog, what have you done with the dog so far?

put pup on leash....get a handful of treats....sit in chair with pup in front of you....hold treat in front of face making sure pup knows treat is in hand....tell pup to look....as soon as he does...give treat and lots of praise...continue this until pup automatically looks when told....next issue is to bring hand down....tell pup look...when he looks at you give treat and lots of praise....be patient:-) Good luck

Thank you for your reply.
I guess i should have said before, she knows focus, she knows fuss, shes already 8 months old just needing help with the focused heeling

I teach the focused heel very differently than alot of people on here.  I dont train with food so I use "me " and wrestling as the reward.  I say fuss and proceed forward, the second the pup looks away I BOLT and keep on running in another direction.  The pup goes "yeehaw we are playing" and keeps  eyes on me at all times. I change direction and speed a zillion times during heeling.  I have no issues with food training I am just not coordinated enough to administer it at the correct time.  While not coordinated I have been bless with exceptional timing.  Not something I learned I just have it.  Very very lucky.  Not sure spastic training would work for everyone :)  But it works for me.  if i am not snorting and weezing at the end of the session I have not put in a very good effort.
