I have heard from a few breeders that the best stud dog is seldom the dog that wins major competitions like world competioins , ect.  Looking to see what others think, agree/disagree, and why.  To narrow this down a bit I am speaking of working line dogs in particular, GSD, Dutch, Malinois.

In my opinion the best stud dog is the one that makes better match with your female and compliments her by improving her strengths and diminish her faults. Also it dependes on your goals as a breeder. The male can be a world champion or not, this does not matter as long as you have clear what you need and want from a specific litter.

Well put Horand. Find a stud that improves her anatomical and temperment weaknesses (also meaning drives) and compliments her strengths.
