I found Bear on Craigslist this morning. He's 9 years old and has been shuffled around most of his life. The current owner hasn't even had him a year yet. (Poor boy)  He needs to be vetted. No big deal hopefully. He's only a 10 minute drive from where I live so I have to at least check him out. I already decided if he bites me I will take him for sure hahaha.

Bear has a new home!!!  He's a beautiful boy. A little too skinny IMO but a beautiful boy. So far so good, he's a little nervous but seems to be taking his new environment in stride. I'd sure hate to see him in a shelter. He's in pretty good shape for 9 yrs old.

There was another GSD on Green Bay CL this morning. A 4 yr old sable male with AKC papers and no re-homing fee. I'd post a link but the ad was flagged and removed. Not sure why. I'll post a pic as soon as I get a chance to re-size it. I also saved the contact info in case anyone is interested.

looks like he drew blood. Ha ha
Good for you to take him. He looks good for his age. Good luck to the both of you.

Good for you! Congrats to you both.

As an aside...sad how 9 is thought of as "old."

Bear barked at me a few times but there was no blood lol

First thing Bear did when I got him home was make a mad dash for the basement steps, ran downstairs as fast as he could, made about 2 -3 laps around the basement, then came flying back up the steps. What a goofball. I'll have to remember to keep the basement door closed.

That is great you were able to give him a new home.  Sounds like he still has alot of energy, lol.  Good luck with your new addition and thank you for making room in your home for him.

I am so glad I brought Bear home and didn't listen to my friends who told me I would be crazy to adopt a 9 yr old dog. Unless Bear has a dark side that hasn't surfaced yet, he seems the perfect dog. So well mannered with such a sunny disposition, and it didn't hurt to give his new mom a big kiss this morning  lol

Bear would have ended up at the pound today if I hadn't taken him as the people were moving and couldn't take him with. People are nuts the way they throw away such nice animals.

I gave a retirement home to a 10 year old. She was the best dog I've ever owned. My current dog was 3 1/2 when I got her. I love the adult dogs, the older, the better. No more puppies for me!!

Congratulations on your new dog Bear!  Very glad you gave him his forever home!

These are a few pics I took of Bear on Sunday when I first got him home. I no longer think Bear is too skinny but instead Trigger (the black longcoat) is too fat. Trigger will be 8 yrs old in a few weeks. Bear at 9 yrs old can run circles around him.
