So, I have a question...... I don't remember Sierra ever doing this before, but she recently went into heat. The color started out bright red as normal......eventually started to get lighter like normal, and then almost clear........ The question though..... After it was almost clear..... I noticed she's had slight bleeding again and it was dark red again. And I think... it's hard to tell on concrete, but it might have a slight brown tint to it (More so red though). Her appetite is better than ever, she has a ton of energy, very playful, very friendly, not anxious or nevous about anything, her weight is perfect, no foul smell to the blood, not vommiting or anything like that, pee looked normal, has a constant supply to drinking water, eats twice a day, etc etc. (Just trying to be as descriptive as possible on her. I did some searching online....though it brought up people results, and most all of them......the baby had a heartbeat and ended up being born very healthy. It mentioned things like the uterus stretching causing the spotting again. Anyway, just wanted to see if any of you have experienced this in a heat cycle, or have an idea of why it may be doing so, before I make an appointment with the vet.

To add on to my previous post, the blood I'm seeing today is just solid red, like the start of a heat cycle. She's not spotting a ton by any means....but today it's just red.

You did not say if she was bred on this cycle! Also, how far into her cycle is she?
Some important info missing here!
She could have pyometria. That's what the blood looked like when my friend's dog lost her litter due to pyo. :(

Sunsilver, sorry I forgot to put that in there. She was bred and was/is going to be spayed after this litter (If there even is one). As for how far into the cycle she is now, today would be the 17th day I think. She was bred the 11th morning/12th night/14th afternoon (the heats she had been bred in the past it was always around the 12th-14th days that she would flag, not to mention even Max would not attempt to breed until about that time as well) Pyo did cross my mind when I noticed the color. She had never had that color discharge ever before, and she has no other symptoms of it (though I know not all dogs show symptoms of it). The days after the last breeding which would have just been a couple of days ago were when I started seeing discharge that wasn't as clear (red with a slight tint of brown), but today was just solid red. Today it looks the color it did when she started the cycle. Sorry if I still didn't mention everything, I've been running in and out having to get things done in town.

Seeing light colored blood, then dark again is normal...Sometimes females will bleed all the way through..Progesterone will tell you where she's at,and while you are there, have them check White cell count, to see if in fact there could be infection..Good luck
