Hi Everyone,

I've been looking for an E Collar.
After asking my fellow club members and searching on the PDB it seems most everyone like the Dogtra or Tri Tronics collars.

My question is which model do you prefer?

I looked at Tri Tronics models Sport combo G3 at $269.00 and the Pro 100 G3 Exp at $449.00,
and with the Dogtra, the model that seems to best suit my training needs is the 7100H at $264.00.

By my needs I mean, I am only going to be working one dog at a time (for the next 2-4 years) at a distance under a 1/2 mile (training Field).

I can't honestly justify spending the $450.00 on the Pro 100 collar, but I want to make sure I get the right collar.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I had nothing but problems with my high dollar tri tronic.

Odd, I've had exactly the opposite experience.  I buy them directly from Tri-Tronics and they have been unbelievably helpful.  Customer support is some of the best I've received regarding just about any product I've ever bought.  I only use Tri-Tronics these days, not as much stim as the Dogtra but definitely more reliable.

I've owned both the Tri-tronics and the Dogtra Collars...I owned the Tri-tronics quite awhile ago...and at that time they were the best on the market...but they were also pretty bulky...and not very strong...Then I tried and eventually switched to the Dogtra and haven't looked back...I have now had 2 Dogtras and have never had a problem with either one...I now have the 7100H...This collar is the 1 dog model and it's everything I need...and has plenty power for most all dogs...And I have one dog that will just blow off a normal collar...

It's my understanding...that a former employee of Tri-tronics is the one that started Dogtra...and if you notice Tri-tronic followed suite with making the transmitter and receiver both smaller and more powerful...

I know many of the top trainer...at least the ones that I know...are using the Dogtra...

clc...If you watch...Dogtra will have discounts on their collars...I know when I bought my new collar...the 7100H a few months ago...I got a 4% discount...I know I've been getting e-mails from them with these discounts too...If you're interested and want help in finding them...you're welcome to contact me and I'll give you what info I have at the time...

I;ve been using the Tri-Tronics GS3 Sport Basic for more than two years.  Very satisfied.  It cured my dog of "selective hearing loss".
I've used other imported brands and was satisfied with them, also.  The  Tri Tronics is simple to operate,  No coding needed. Also made in U.S. Tip:  bought mine at Cabela's (catalog) $239.  no shipping no tax via internet.  Good luck in your search.

Never had a Tri-tronics, always wanted one, but just can't get them shipped over here for less than they cost to buy :S  Had a Pac till it fell apart (literally) and then bought a Dogtra which I was very pleased with, it then spent 5 yrs in a box unused and I sold it a few months back and had no complaints about it (after the buyer spent a week not knowing how to switch the collar on, eeek my bad!)

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for your replies.

After more research and talking to both companies I decided on the Dogtra.

I purchased the......Dogtra 3500NCP Super X (1 mile)......from Cabelas for the smoking deal of $229.88 no tax and free shipping (MSRP $354.00).

If anyone's interested, this item is sold out on line but, you can still find a few left at several stores.

Happy Training.

Cheri
