Effective immediately we will no longer allow personal attacks of any kind in the breed forums, general forum or training forum. If your attack is preceded or followed by the words you, your, yourself, you're it will be deleted and you will receive a PM. Arguing with the mods about any edit or deletion will not be tolerated. Cute writing to avoid the personalization of an attack will still be deleted and if your attack is sarcasm it will still be deleted. (internet sarcasm is not something the mods will try and discern)

If you would like to attack members feel free to sign up for one of the many other forums on the web or head over to OT for your daily fix.

We encourage healthy debate about the issue and not attacks on our members. We also will discourage people who bait others to attack.

If you are unsure of the definition of an attack here is a good link.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks

New people are not going to post here if they fear being attacked.

As a matter of polite and effective discourse, comments should not be personalized. That is, they should be directed at content and actions rather than people. In disputes, the word "you" should be avoided when possible.

This thread is an announcement and not meant for comment, if you would like to comment please send me a PM.

Thank you,
Site Management

We would love to hear from members privately about this new direction.  Good or bad. Bump.

The words you and the rest are not banned. You, of course can still use them, just not in a personal attack.

It is not hard to understand.

The management of this site is tired of the conscending attacks, the put downs and personal attacks.

If you have knowledge then use it to teach and not belittle your fellow humans. Use it to actually help.

I challenge those with knowledge to help and not cut down. How can you teach, mentor or provide help while you are cutting someone down?

Sharing knowledge is not cut downs or I am better, smarter more beautiful than you and since you are new you are worthless.

I received a pm saying this should not be a rule it should be a given, but people are people and this stuff goes back to being in school, playing the playground bully.

Civility is not a hard thing to ask for and personal attacks have always been against the rules.

Every forum on the net has rules for personal attacks. Some enforce those and some don't we will support our TOS. Whether that means we do it by subtraction or by any means.

When we send our children to school would we like our teachers to tell our students you are so stupid and will never amount to anything in life. look at you-you are ignorant. Of course we would not. You cannot teach if you destroy.

Results coming in show that we are running at about 10 to 1 in favor of this.

I'd like to post something Oli said on the Retraction thread

This is what Oli wants...These are his words

I do want to keep the forum a happy place where new breeders will learn stuff.
like:

1)  Breed good dogs that improve the breed
2) Take care of their dogs so that their health shines in trials/shows
3) work with others.

I do not want newcomers to learn that :

1) the oldies in the breed are somewhat homicidal
2) other breeders will do anything to ruin you
3) don't try to find tips for improving the breed,  do what you think is best.

Listen folks, this is not the end. YOU (notice I said you) can still hotly debate topics, just no personal attacks, whether you feel they are warranted or not. This has always been a rule, but due to some members abusing the art of the personal attack, we have decided to enforce the rule.

There are a million ways to disagree without resorting to PA, they just take more work and a warming of the human spirit.

BTW, keep the responses coming we are running about 25:1.

A very respected member asked me to post this video. And out of all of our respect I agreed. Thanks, you know who you are.

I thought I'd add these other words of OLI's.
Can also be found on the Retraction thread.
1st post, 3rd paragraph

There are some members that fight competitive breeders, (which I find ok),  and others that cause disruption just for the sake of it (which I do not like)  and some that bring good natured humor to dark topics and lighten them up (which is also ok) ..
