Most chains I've looked at have the 25 lb limit.  When we've traveled in the past, I've come across a couple independently operated hotels that haven't made it an issue, but I'm always worried that if I'm not upfront and then get caught, they'll kick us out.  So if you travel with your dogs, what hotels/chains have you found more accepting of the larger breeds?

We have stayed at Motel 6 with my dog. They have no weight limit and were very nice. They put us in a room near a big open yard, and the fee was only $10. The room was nothing special, but its worth it to have your dog there!

You can check out dogfriendly.com for hotels near your destination...

I've used Red Roof Inn and La Quinta several times with GSDs.

LaQuinta is the best for dogs, IMO.  I was on the road for 6 months with my dog and they were the easiest to deal with and their rooms were the nicest.

I agree, I like them the best.  I also like the hotel vs. motel or however you describe it (going inside the building vs. doors opening directly outside).  I think the La Quinta we used did not even have a dog deposit.  We just walked in with Kenya (my working line female) and they smiled at her.

I agree that if no other choice Laquinta Inn ALWAYS accepts them.

There are lots of them!!!! We travel a lot with our two dogs and have never had a problem. Just to name a few in addition to the ones mentioned- Staybridge, Rodeway Inn, Marriott, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Days Inn. Most charge pet fees, but not all. Some have a weight limit and others don't. Do your homework ahead of time. Check out the websites KellyJ suggested.
