Hello,
I am a German Shepherd owner, I own Ulko's Grandaughter, and have met his son brought here to the U.S. from Denmark. I have to say these 2 dogs have unremarkable personalities, without aggression issues. As far as Ulko, he would not be that titled had he had aggression issues in Denmark, we are talking about 1 of Denmark's top dog ever!
I believe he was brought here to the U.S., he had a new handler, I don't know anything about him, the shows here are soo much different as the dogs are too. The REAL German Shepherds bred with top European lines, are hard working dogs, these dogs start training at a very young age, and the breeders have an eye for high drive dogs, these are the dogs that show, and Karat's Ulko didn't get there without alot of working, period!!
I believe Ulko did everything he could in Europe that's why he was sold. He came here, had a new handler, and the shows here are a little different (maybe a lot), he had a new home, and different shows, as well as trying to understand a new language, that puts stress on any dog, however, I don't think this was an act of aggression, this dog was reall expressing the way he is used to competing. I've never heard anything but good come from this dog, we are blessed to be left with his progeny, as well as Ulk's.
Good luck everyone, and we all should be responsible breeding this dog, as there is no other like it, I would love to see restrictive breeding myself, as the AKC will register anything, even my kids stuufed animal dogs!

Was there a talk about Ulko having agression issues? If you're talking about VA 1 Karats Ulko, he's 10 years old, is he still alive and going to shows?

Last I knew he was still alive with Charlie Starr at Drachefeld Shepherds in Kentucky. Charlie said he was a retired dog with his own little "compound" and dog house. I've met a few people in the US who were/are big fans of Ulko.

No prob, I think that was over a year ago I heard that. Not sure if he was still being used for breeding or not. Probably not since Charlie had Xbox, up and coming stud now VA1.

I have a 6 month old Ulko/Zamp grandson. He has the most wonderful temperament I've ever seen. He absolutely loves everyone, isn't shy, very curious, and very willing.

Seery,
Please explain what you are talking about!
He DID have aggression problems with Jimmy in Denmark. Even attacked him at a show and his bite work was not all that good. Charlie fixed all that and made him a better dog. So I really don't know why this post and where you are coming from.
I have a Ulk son that is absolutely the best most well rounded dog ever! His bite work is awesome, yet small children can run up and wrap their arms around him and is fine. He is secure in any and all situations and one of the best ambassadors for the breed I've ever seen. He is stable with small and large dogs and even some aggressive ones - to a point. He also produces this! So you don't have to convince me that this line is GREAT!
