Texas wildfires destroy at least 500 homes
Scores of blazes rage in central and eastern parts of the drought-stricken state. Gov. Rick Perry appeals for federal aid.
(Again, Texas has been denied several times already)

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Several animals from the fire-threatened Bastrop Animal Shelter have been rescued and are in the process of being brought to Austin Pets Alive after the shelter was evacuated Sunday evening.
Austin Pets Alive volunteers drove into Bastrop to rescue 160 animals from the shelter.
They will be brought to Austin Pets Alive at 2807 Manchaca Road. In order to make room for the animals, the shelter is waiving all adoption fees for cats and dogs.

If they mistyped, I can't help it. And they're not responding. No idea what they're going through. Good luck.

Not just the barns are gone, but more importantly the hay and feed, water and fences are gone too.....whatever livestock that has survived in the ares needs to be transported, but there's isn't anough hay to go around, and the cost of feed is through the roof.
I was driving in this area last week and the fields are all dead, corn only grew to a foot high and then dried up as did all the other crops. All of the small ponds and lakes are dried, the larger lakes are several feet below normal. The vast forrests of oak trees along the side of HWY 71 looked to be in trouble as well and 10 to 15 percent of them had yellow, brown on no leaves. Last time it was this bad was in 1980.
Side bar.......
30% of the US corn production is slated for use in ethanol........even if the crops fail the feds mandate a certain number of bushels be used for ethanol......farmers and ranchers cannot give away their steers, goats or chickens and they cannot afford to feed them either. Many are being slaughtered just keep them from starving to death slowly. Cows are not being bred so there will not be caves for next year.....maybe its time to put this program on hold so that we'll have afordable food to eat later on this year!

Surely, this is a disaster, class A. The fires are so big, they can be seen from space satellites.

FEMA cliams there broke and without funding. And Obama,s biggest presidetial threat is coming from Texas so don,t expect too much from Washington.
