Interesting situation happened yesterday.  I have a beautiful litter of Bouviers that are ready for new homes. The sire is a GCH and ranked 14th in the nation at the present.  The dame is also a CH.  The litter was really nice and no problems what so ever.  A potential client came with his wife yesterday to view the puppies.  She had seen my male and fell in love which is not unusual when we are out and about.  The husband on the other hand was not particularly pleasant.  When he saw the litter first thing out of his mouth was he had never paid 2 grand for a puppy and did not see why I was asking so much.  He also made some unwanted remarks about my sire which did not set to well either.  The wife on the other hand really wanted one of the puppies and and really got upset when he made the remarks he did.  She literally told him to appogise which he did not do.  To make a long story short in the end when they decided they wanted one I told him that he did not need to worry about paying 2k for the puppy becuase I would not sell them one even if they offered me 3.  I guess I am sort of stuborn about things but when my male won't let someone pet him the radar goes up anyway.  Would anyone of you have sold to this couple with a husband having that kind of attitude?  Steve

I'm not a breeder, but if I was in your situation there is no way I'd sell one of my pups to a man like him. It sounds like he was completely obnoxious. I feel sorry for the woman who has to live with him, but unfortunately she chose him :(.

I agree with the others--nope, I'm sure there is a great home for that pup and that definately isn't it. My fear would be with his attitude when noone was around he might abuse the puppy...........I say you made the right choice.

You made the right choice. If he can't be courteous to you, how will he treat your puppy? I feel bad for the lady who wanted one, but the dog has to live with BOTH of them.

There is no way one of my puppies would ever go home with them!!!

Screw that guy and his dick attitude. Your male knew he was a skunk, but even if he did allow him to pet him, I wouldn't sell them a puppy ever!

The woman made her bed; she can lie in it. The puppy, otoh, relies on us for protection, and you did the right thing. F- 'em. ;-)

If that couple came to my house to see the puppies, and the husband started making smartass comments like he did with you I wouldn't even waste a single breath of air. I would just politely ask them both to leave because they're not suitable owners to be taking 1 of my puppies home.

You did the right thing. The first priority is to protect the pup, and to find them suitable homes. Had this pup came home with the couple, I am certain that the husband would try to abuse the pup out of resentments.

I agree. If one spouse does not want the dog it will always be an issue and the dogs safty could even be at risk. I would never send a dog/pup to a home where not everyone is on the same page. A  spouse that does not want a dog in the home and a spouse that does want one is trouble waiting to happen.
