I didn't find this topic in a search so I thought I would recommend this product as the best dog chew I have found to date. Super long-lasting and it even smells good. As always, you have to watch out if it becomes small enough to choke on but that hasn't happened yet in two separate chewing sessions. My dog who goes through large antlers in less than an hour has not made much of a dent in this chew yet. It's supposedly an all natural super hard cheese made of yak and cows' milk in about the same price range as the antlers. Unless some of you have heard otherwise this Himalayan chew is definitely worth checking out.

Thanks for that info. I saw them at one place I order supplies and wondered exactly what they were. Think I will give them a shot...............

Where did you get them from? do you have a specific website or place you got it from? I ask because I have heard of these before and they sound like a very good alternative to some shorter lasting chews.

I didn't want the post to sound like an ad so I didn't include my source which is http://www.bestbullysticks.com/home/bbs/smartlist_100/himalayan_dog_chew.html. There may be other websites if you do a search. I am not aware of any stores that have them yet.
We are now into our fourth day with still more than half of the large chew left. I especially like that it sort of melts away, no splinters or mess on the floor.

Here's a listing of stores, by city, that carry the dog chews, but your website has a good price for them.

We carry this product in our All Natural Pet Store. They are an extremely hard compressed Yaks and Cows milk Bar. A bit on the spendy side but some dogs really enjoy them as a great alternative to others. We also carry the Elk antlers and in the bulk where you can select out your own pieces and thicknesses they are quite nice and hold up fairly well for more durable chews. Still the number one favorite seems to be those Bully sticks, although to a GSD is still a snack but so much better than the days of knotted rawhides. I always throw away and recommend disposing of them when they get down far enough at they could be swallowed whole and as with any chew supervision should be given. I personally am a fan of a fresh end of a femur from the butcher with plenty of meat and cartilage to chew. The ultimate K9 toothbrush!

JulieM,
I wish your store was in my neighborhood! And I agree my dog thinks bullysticks are a snack!! I wonder how many are safe to give him in one day? I am favoring the thin 4" bully over the longer thicker pieces because my dog finishes them before he can get bored or interrupted and swallow a larger piece.

They sound like a great idea. I tried the antlers (expensive little suckers too) and my dogs didn't even look at them. I ended up throwing them out. Thanks for the tip!

My old neighbors in WA state were the ones that started this company. She was a nurse in Nepal and used the hard YAK cheese to feed a dog she adopted there. They are great and healthy
