Scanerio:  Owner lying on bed with dog (not GSD);  owner sneezes with cold and dog goes for owners face, bites visciously in face and lips with owner in hospital with many stitches and probably 2 more surgeries?  What would you do?

Are you serious ?   I have had dogs all of my life, 52 yrs. old.  I have never had a dog bite
me and would never put up with anything like this.  I also must have dogs that all get along.

It depends on the situation, but if it's just like you said.  My opinion if it was my dog, I
definitly would not keep it.  Possibly would put it down.

Yes that is my opinion also, would probably be PTS;  but how sad.  I told owners he's probably not well, in otherwards some kind of pain of brain tumor?  I felt so helpless while talking to them, not able to offer any type of intelligent solution to the problem except that for 'TEMPERAMENT" I can justify euthanasia and that thank god it was a family member not someone's child or even another outside adult or friend.  JHC, I was at a a loss for words and assistance for them.

Your own dog bites you in the face for sneezing? Either the dog has a health problem or it would best be used for fertilizer.

by Nans gsd on 11 July 2011 - 02:07

Yes Jen and thanks for your opinion;  that is also my question, is the dog well?  Probably not.  Very sad though (a pembroke welsh corgi).  Definitely has an issue going on, but could not offer any help to the owners;  only know of one other case as such and it was a Belgiun Sheepdog and he DID have a brain tumor but went for his owner and caused some serious damage before he was euthanised.  In any case very sad though and like I stated above I don't have a problem if the dog has just a plain BAD temperament.  According to owners had been doing some strange things last few months but not strange enough to expect this outcome.  Nan

I would definitely not let the dog in the bed ever again.  I would also stock up on Cold medicine and Vitamin C.

My "knee jerk" reaction is PTS - Then ask myself..... "Hmmmmm....? What is the history behind this dog & human.....?"  So for shock value the pooch needs a shot of blue juice but on the kinder more humane side what the hell is the rest of the story.....?

New method of fighting the common cold. My puppy always looks at me weird when I sneeze.
