I am not that familiar with young dog x-rays, but I don't think these look very good. The sockets seem shallow and the heads don't look seated deeply. Again, I am not familiar with x-rays on such young dogs though.

i would of waited a year to take xrays, but what i see in these xrays is very bad , they have moderate HD maybe worse, i see alot of changes ,they are not seated well but also see changes in the joints, which will get worse as she gets older, i would wait till over a year too re do the xrays to see if they are any better , i would wait 2-3 months after heat cycle to do it.

This isn't my puppy, a friend asked me what I thought.

I would wait and re-xray at maybe 14 months; not near a heat cycle. If I were to grade these at this moment with this x-ray I would say moderate. Sockets and femur head are not very well seated at all. Sockets need to be deeper; I am not sure this is going to happen in this case. Was this x-ray done under sedation or without? Just curious. All in all, not very good but I would probably keep her and let her grow up a while and recheck; if the owner cannot wait this out, spay as pet. So sorry. Nan

the vet, said hopefully mild, maybe moderate, and she's the best for miles around.

Yeah and so sorry about that, were these taken under sedation? I don't see these getting much better either, so sorry for that. Wished there was a way for the dogs sake, that we could fix this problem. Just sucks. Nan

You can see the decreased muscle mass on the right thigh (left side of the picture).
I don't know how they'd rate, but not a passing rating.

Unfortunately, they won't pass. Nothing to do with the heat cycle. I have x-rayed right before a heat like days and got excellent and ofa good at 38 months while in heat. If they are good they are good. I suppose if it is a line between mild and fair, the heat may make a difference but not in this case.
