Mindhunt

So I get home today only to find that my dogs have had themselves a really great time (they are usually pretty well behaved when I am gone, I make sure to tire them out before I leave for classes).  They raided the refridgerator (I forgot the child lock) and helped themselves to my chicken (MY dinner) and the cheese; cleared the counters of all the stuff and played floor hockey with most of it (I got plastic containers for storage long time ago); raided my cupboards to find the peanut butter and finished it off and helped themselves to my graham crackers; took my texts books off the shelves and added them to the floor hockey equipment; and took the cushions off the sofa where they were konked out.  I got home before they did anything else.  Keep in mind, nothing is really destroyed except for the top of the peanut butter jar and the graham cracker box.  I don't count dog slobber as damage.  Too funny, annoyed on the outside and falling down laughing on the inside, oh and a little bit of pride mixed in hahahaha

Yikes! Bad doggies! Mine wrestle with each other & pick on each other a lot. Thankfully they are not destructive any more....I lost an 8 foot ficus tree to them as puppies, its leaves moved in the breeze from the window, & that was that! Torn down, pulled over, & then out of it's huge pot, & then dissected, branch by branch......*sigh*.....I replanted it but it never recovered, it only had about 3 leaves left....*sigh*! jackie harris

Here's a picture. There wasn't a single bag that didn't have a hole in it, by the time they were done!  It doesn't include my favourite Bible, the one my nephew carried the wedding rings on on our wedding day, which Star shredded into a hundred pieces. She also chewed the corners off my copy of "The Shiloh Shepherd Story." I took it to Homecoming that year, and asked Tina (the author) to sign it: "Star of Hope: I hope you found this book very much to your taste!" That book is a precious souvenir now that Tina's passed away. sad

Star also shredded 4 or 5 rugs, ruined a good wool hall runner by peeing on it (I didn't notice the pee until it had sunk into the fibers so deeply that I couldn't get rid of the smell.) Teena, my Shiloh, chewed a large hole in the skirt of an upholstered chair, and chewed the corners off the coffee table. (Hey, the chair came from the Curbside Shopping Boutique, and the table was a used furniture store find I picked up for $35 bucks...) What REALLY got me mad was when she tore open a box I'd packed, pulled out my heirloom silverware, and chewed up the handles of several knives!  After that, all the packed boxes had to be moved out to the garage.

Mindhunt, sorry to hear about your hooligans getting into your dinner. Here's something to make you chuckle:

Mine just chill out and check the front window now and then when theres a noise.  If it gets late and I haven't fed dinner yet though, my male will go over to my fridge, open the door, then sit down and whine because he wants his chicken(he's fed the Raw diet) He waits for me to get it though.  At least he doesn't help himself to my food.  I wouldn't have trusted my working lines to just sit there and wait though.

My two inside girls have been known to be a little antsy while I am gone for long periods IF they don't get their 3-5 mile 4 wheeler
run every day. Lucky for me, they just take out their frustration on their dog beds. LOL. I have come home more then once to find
their beds in the middle of the floor, couch cushions all over the house and a big pile of dog hair ON the couch (where they know they
are not supposed to be!) Blinds have been torn down, kids stuffed animals "killed" and the door mat shredded. These are the nearly
perfect house dogs now at 6.5 years old who 99% of the time are as good as gold. It's that 1% of the time they have a wild day.
LOL I don't even get mad anymore and really find it pretty funny. Oh yea, there was a whole loaf of fresh bread that I baked that
mysteriously went missing while it was on a cooling rack. No one is saying who ate it, but my Haley definitely looked a little plumper.
Of all things BREAD? Really ? Not the chicken, beef or "real" food but BREAD? LMAO

Dog crates have worked for us for  years;  when I am gone either an outdoor dog kennel (pen) locked or crates inside.  That is the way it has to be.  Or limit their freedom to one room only with plenty of chew toys, freeze hard rubber kong's with  yogart inside, and other dog toys freeze with peanut butter or whatever else you have, even ground meat;  if you feed kibble, I used yogart and kibble then freeze;  they have lost their freedom;  even though it was pretty funny.  Sorry  Nansurprise

PS Melissa, mine love bread??  Go figure.

LOL, The pork chops are safe but heaven forbid a fresh loaf of bread is sitting out :)
All in all they have earned their freedom in the house. There's maybe one or two days a month that I'll come home
and it looks like a tornado swept through the house. Since they have matured, they keep the destructive behavior
to their own dog beds, though they are never torn up. It looks like they've had a big pillow fight. If they get their
long run in the morning, or even other morning the house looks just the same way I left it. That is not their fault
if I go slacker on them for a few days :)

The only toys that do not cause a fight are nylabones. We do not leave any kongs, balls etc.. just 2 nylabones for
them to chew. It's not often that I am gone for long periods (hey, wet n wild was well worth some dog beds in the
middle of the floor lol) .

Rip up the carpet in the back of the van LOL!  O wait that was on the way to the lake to let them run, can't say they were bored :)   Anyone know what to lay down on the floor of the mini van now that the carpet is ripped up?
