We really did not believe that a small country and island like sri lanka could have puppy mills or commercial breeders. Yes, they do exsit but in very small form. It is these breeders that are responsible for ruining the good breeders name and putting out puppies with genetic faults.
In recent times this had been bought to light by various animal rights groups as these puppy millers had now started using the internet to market there so called good dogs.
One such kennel is Golden Team Kennels www.goldenteamkennels.com, registered with the Kennel Association of Sri Lanka, the owners is an active participant at dog shows. One must really go into his kennels/ home to see the level of disgust the operations show.
It is a 2 bed room house, very small indeed with more people that should reside there. there are dogs everywhere, in the back, in the sides etc... he offers inferior dogs with genetic faults at stud whom inreturn produce genetically faulty puppies.
He is also friend with another crook named Eshan Silva whom runs a pet shop called International pet Mart. Eshan buys puppies from him and other dubious sources. he also imports sick puppies from Thailand pet shop market and sell them at a high price. these puppies die within a week of arrival, the customer is given no refund plus had to bare all medical expense. Puppies in the pet shop stand in wire mesh floors and is exposed to the elements in the tropical climate (the temperature is 32degrees celius at shade) during the day, abused by the passerbys and under constant stress of the ongoing roads as you see, the pet shop is on the main road.
In the nights the animals in the cages are moved inside to very tight quaters and closed off.
Coming back to Golden Team kennels - the owners is one MALIDU LAKMAL CHAMARA, he produces inferior quality golden retrievers with poor hind legs and in general poor quality puppies. His bitches do give birth in the toilet, as there is no proper place in such a small house for a place for a bitch to give birth, you can watch over her while you take a dump.
This is truely a place of disgust, I hope these places is closed down

I also live in Sri Lanka, I have heard of these places. The kennel offers many inferior dogs at stud of there own or friends dogs. They have many breeds. It is so sad to visit there.
Asper The pet shop owned by Eshan Silva, it is at Mt Lavinia. Eshan is a rogue and a cheat, he owes lot of people money from borrowing and not paying. Many vets are refusing to treat his puppies as some of his imported puppies were infected with diseases unknown that had killed other warded animals.
Eshan also breeds pit bulls in the most sadest conditions.
This picture was floating around the internet, she gave birth few days back. The sire belonged to golden team kennels.

Have you contacted authorities in your country? It's good that you want to help the dogs, but I don't know if anyone here can help you. Can your Kennel Association help, do they do inspections? Best of luck to you and anyone seeking to protect dogs in your homeland.

This is really sad but I think the authorities in countries like Sri-lanka

What is even worse is that Malidu has paired up with Eshan Silva, a pet shop owner in the south of the city of Colombo. Untold misery happens in his shop where puppies suffe from the 32 degrees heat with an average humidity of 85%. Worse of all is teh stress level as they are in small cages on mesh floors on the payment of a busy main road.
Puppies of all breeds are put in the same kennel where the larger ones continuesly attack the smaller ones. God knows how many pups really die here.
Eshan Silva also imports puppies from Thailand to Sri Lanka. He buys them from a pet shop and sells them cheap but with a 100% profit to himself. 95% of these puppies die with parvo or distemper or corona or some type of flu within days of arrival. he is noted for modifying health records. There are many legal conplains by various people. This is a major racket and a big fraud he is doing by cheating people.
People in Sri Lanka should be very careful when they buy puppies from pet shops as they are easily caught to the sales pitch.
People marketing Eshan Silva are Raji, Charminda, Malidu, Rajitha, etc...
