Anyone imported from South Africa? Cost? Quarantine? Other Requirements? - Page 1

Looking at importing a few dogs from South Africa to USA. Has anyone done this? Medium sized dogs, should fit in no larger than 400series crates. I'm wondering what costs are and requirements (quarantine, vaccines, etc.).

No quarantines for dogs coming from anywhere into the States, Jen. Only Federal vax requirements are rabies, if old enough, and if dogs have been working livestock in certain countries, they're required to be dipped for ticks w/in 24 hours prior to arrival in US; other vax requirements are based on individual state's requirements.

Excellent. Someone had mentioned that they thought certain parts of Africa were the exception to the no quarantine thing, but from all I can find, they were mistaken. Thanks very much, hexe, and also those who emailed.
