I have 9 month old gsd.beatiful showdog .One day I come home ,let him out of the kennel(10'x10')and dog was limping on both hindlegs and was in a lot of pain.Vet did X-ray for hip dysplasia and lyme test. Both negative. He noticed that dog has only 1 testicle but at 8 weeks had both(he has had seen dog 5 times before).Dog also had scraped nails on both hindlegs.Heprescribed amoxycilin, metacam and metronidazole. The dog is stillscraping his nails while walking, has all signs of myleopathy. But this disease is only in older dogs.Vet thinks he maybe injured his back while playing. Please help,I'm very sad because I wanted to start showing dogs and i paid a lot for puppy.I know he would be disqualified with one testicle, but at this point I just want healthy dog(at least for schutzhund). Vet also said it is not "pano".

No idea where the nut went but sounds like he has pinched a nerve in his back. He must have been messing around in his kennel and hurt himself. Thats the only thing I can think of that would cause symptoms like that.

I would recommend seeing a vet that is knowledgable in alternative medicine and look at the totality of symptoms to find a cure, not each individual symptom. Homeopathy is great for that!

Kazan76, perhaps try a neurologist. My dog was born with a spine issue but it was like a pinched nerve... your dog probably does not have what my dog had but he did drag his nails, when he walked his legs swung side to side (his back legs). Try and make sure you know what it is before treatment would be my suggestion, I agree that it could easily be a pinched nerve. All the best, Jennifer

I would see the neurologist and get an MRI done if you have covered all other bases. What I wonder about is the pain issue, with toe dragging and paralysis I did not notice pain in my dog. That suggests injury to me, not a genetic issue.

question is..... where did the nut go and when did it go? Thats where you need to start. If both testies were there before and now one is missing....than this should set all alarm bells off with your Vet. Would explain the symptoms as well, he is scraping nails because its to painful to walk in a stride.
