Female GSD 8 months old. X-rays taken because she prefers to "sit like a puppy" slopping her hips sideways - no lameness, no problems with movement.

Left hip is slightly less in the socket.... could easily be a tech pushing up on that leg, still has decent coverage.
Femoral heads and necks appear symmetrical.
My guess would be slouchy-puppy-sits are because she is a puppy.

her hips look fine,
has she had her first heat yet?
i took prelims of Sita and she came into her first heat about 2 days later, he hips showed excess laxity. the were prelimed as mile. she showed no signs so i introduced a swimming workout into our everyday activities and by age 2 her hips graded as good.
i think i had a year and a half of worry because the X-rays were taken so close to her first estrus.
puppies and dogs sit slouched all the time, its comfortable and doesn't seem to have anything to do with HD.

thanks - yes I think now that she just sits like that because she's a sloppy puppy. She is quite big-boned and does not move like a dancer to begin with LOL. I was just worrying myself about it, even though she would sit square and did not seem uncomfortable doing it - just couldn't stand it anymore had to "see". I like this puppy and want her to do well in training.
No first heat yet - but you are right she is about that age that it is possible she will come into heat shortly. Good thought.
thanks everyone!

Molly: The construction is definitely there; of course would like to see them a little tighter but I think they will tighten up with maturity; I would definitely be keeping her lean though with moderate exercise. I know you are aware of all this but I just want her to have the best possibilities while growing up. Are you keeping this bitch? BOL Nan

I am keeping her for the moment - she is the puppy in the Bernard Flinks seminar videos I shared on this forum. I like her very much so far. Excellent temperament and plenty of drive, natural grip and excellent nerve.

Yes I remember looking at the video or pics; I don't remember this bitch specifically though; bet she was nice though. Best of luck with her Nan.
