Petoasis,
If you suspect something retained after whelping, Your dog needs to be taken to your vet for xrays to confirm whether there is a retained pup or infection in the uterus.
Oxytocin should be administerred within 24 hours of delivery of the last pup.

If there is a retained pup or placental material, she can contract Pyometria and die from this infection.
At the very least she can become barren for future litters due to scarring of the uterus from the infection.

I wouldn't use it now..if there is a pup or was, the body already had started absorbing it..take her temperature or check her white blood cell count to see signs of infection.....if she is eating, alert and the puppies are doing fine, gaining weight, I would at least start her on an antibiotic for 14 days at least....if there is a pup inside, you would definitely get a foul odor coming out..Good Luck

No.  Discharge for several days after whelping is normal but if you suspect anything is amiss, she should be taken to the vet.

I agree with Keith on this one.

It is normal that your bitch has discharge after whelping. The first week after whelping you should always give her methergin to help her to throw all remaining elements related, and avoid infections.

After one week, in case she has more puppies inside they are death and she should be very sick.  If she is eating fine and taking care of her puppies you can be quiet.

The best you can do is check with your Vet, but in case is not possible you can give her one dose subcutaneous 0,5mm oxytocin.  No problem.

I agree with Soli,

it is normal, you would do more harm than good to administer oxytocin at this point.

My shepherd had 10 pups, and I had the shot on hand, but never used it, she's fine,
and still has discharge, and her pups are 3 weeks old, as long as there is no foul odor,
she should be fine.

I WOULDN'T TAKE ANY CHANCES. I WOULD TAKE HER TO HER VET TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS OK
