So, I know I made this post sometime in the past last year. I was just wandering about the issue with the Lamb.....now.  Is anyone feeding their dogs Nutro Natural Choice now? If so, how are they doing on it? Before all the problems people had with it, my dogs were on it at one time, back in 2007. They all did excellent on it.  The puppy food in the white bag (forgot what's in it) and the Lamb for the large breed adult both did well on my dogs.  Has the issue with the Lamb been resolved.....if anyone knows what it was called, reinform me, I can't think of what it was called that was causing problems with the Lamb in the food. I also recently saw that they have a grain free version of their food now. Which is extremely over priced over $54 here for I think 24 lbs of food. Anyways, any thoughts, people using it, etc?

We used to feed it but during that Chinese mfg. melamine...I believe/pet food contamination recall mess we never went back to it!

I work at Petco and what I was told by one of the Nutro reps was that the reason they didnt have the large breed lamb on the shelf for a while was because there was a shortage of lamb being imported to the USA. So they decided just to have their regular formula of lamb on the shelf since that is the one formula that Nutro is wellknown for. Not sure if I beleive that or not, because Nutro was the ONLY company that was having issues with getting a supply of lamb...hmmmm make one wonder indecision.  I heard from someone else that they had a Melamine issue. So I am not sure what to beleive.

I too several years ago use to feed the large breed lamb and rice formula to my dogs. Then I heard about how horrible Medadione is for dogs (cats to for that matter). So I switched off of Nutro all together. I will not feed my dogs a food with Medadione in it.

Im not sure this will answer your question but I was talking to a Nutro rep last weekend and he of course feeds Nutro Natural to his dog, a golden. He was telling me that his dog was fat and he increased the exercise of the dog (running) and cut his food to 3 cups a day and the dog still couldnt loose any weight. This was over the course of a few months. This isnt the only person Ive heard this with. A friend of mine did the same thing and the dog could not loose. It really makes me wonder what is in the food that dogs just cant loose weight. The shepherd was down to less than 2 cups a day. That is a red flag to me and I stay away from the food all together. Too bad really. Back in the 80's the food was awesome.

The poor Nutro rep refuses to change his dogs diet to help the dog loose. Thats that saddest part of all.

Interesting, Bhaugh.  I don't know why, but I always liked going to the store to get that food a few years ago.  I was hoping I could possibly feed it again, but after what you and Jyl said....I'll definitely pass and stick with what they're eating now.  Right now we're doing TOTW.  I've got one extremely picky eater on my hands and it's hard to find something she really likes.  The one with Duck in it she seems to like.  The others....not so much.  The male in my picture, he's eating the TOTW with the Lamb,  but he's not picky at all.  And the other one just eats one or the other, he's not too picky either. I know my female use to free feed though before she came here...not how I feed my dogs, and she was on Purina as well.  My guys all have nice, soft coats, good stools, great energy, and seem to do very well on it.   Just curious, how long has Nutro Natural Choice been on the market?
