Our power has been out for days, so I have had alot of time just to think about things. I was thinking about when I first got Cam back in 2008, and how much he has came to mean to me. So I put it all in words, and came up with this...

And Suddenly it Hit Me…I Just Didn’t Know

When you came into my life as a ten week old pup, I had know idea what you’d become…What we’d become.

I just didn’t know every time I would turn around I would have to trip over you,
but I soon began to appreciate that you always have my back.

I just didn’t know how much money would be spent on your “diet“,
or yet how happy its makes me to know you are your healthiest.

I just didn’t know how annoying your hatred for certain people could be,
but yet how I would soon learn to trust your judgment of strangers.

I just didn’t know how many times you would frustrate me to no end during training,
or how many more we would walk off that field full of joy.

I just didn’t know how many expensive chew toys you would lose,
or how we will always seem to find them on our evening walks to nowhere.

I just didn’t know how much trouble planning a dog friendly vacation could be,
or how you will always make vacations that much more fun.

I just didn’t know that the door opening and dog barking would end up going hand in hand,
or how I would come to realize that was just your way of keeping me safe.

I just didn’t know that a dog could ever mean so much to me.

Me and you have built a bridge together, and bridged the gap between human and canine.

I am happy to call you my dog, but I am proud to call you my friend.
