I was working with our local K9/SAR unit and was told my area has some interesting laws regarding dog ownership/responsibilities. Unfortunately, many are not enforced. These are just a few of the many laws I have here and these are paraphrased.
1. Owners must pick up their dog feces and dispose of it in a responsible manner (Duh )
2. Dogs are not allowed to bark, whine, yowl, etc for a persistent period of time exceeding 10 minutes or make the sounds in repeated manner not exceeding 10 minutes total in a 120 minute period and not exceed 5 minutes of noise for someone walking by, 4 mins for someone riding a bicycle by, 3 mins for mail/UPS/FedEx, etc delivering, 2 min at birds, squirrels, rabbits, or other small animals (dogs that are law enforcement, sar, hunting during the appropriate season, or trialing at a sanctioned trial are exempt)
3. No dog is allowed to be confined in an unattended vehicle without sufficient ventilation or in ambient temps exceeding 76 degrees F without some form of mechanical cooling in the vehicle
4. No dogs are allowed to ride in the bed of pickup trucks or other vehicle from which an animal can escape without being secured safely in a secured appropriate animal container or restrained safely with a minimum of 2 tethers affixed to opposite sides of the vehicle and affixed to a harness, any dog not so confined is subject to immediate confiscation by animal control or law enforcement
5. All dogs when outside must be under the direct control and supervision of the adult owner (18 years old and over) by means of leash, fence, carrier, voice, hand, or other humane methods
6. No dog shall charge, chase, or in any manner harrass another person or animal, any dogs caught doing so will be subject to immediate confiscation by animal control or law enforcement (same exemptions as # 2)
7. All dogs adopted from a sanctioned rescue organization or the humane society shall be sterilized within the specified time frame or be confiscated by adopting agency
8. We even have a lemon law for dogs that states that any breeder that breeds 2 or more litters in 365 day period must provide certified health and breeding records for the puppy/dog.  Once the animal is with the new owner, the animal must be examined by a state licensed veterinarian within 5 business days of purchase and deemed healthy, if the animal is not healthy or if the animal becomes ill based on congenital defects, structural deficits, etc during the first 365 days of living with the new owner, the breeder must reimburse the new owner for all medical costs and provide either a new animal, refund the money paid for the animal, or continue to reimburse the owner for the reasonable medical care of the animal for the duration of animal's life providing that there is no undue suffering of the animal (this law I was unaware of until I read the statutes)

So what are some of the laws in your area
