Having not been active in the breed for a few years, I see the bickering is still going on.
Isn't it time we put away our egos and considered what the GSD is all about?
First and foremost the GSD is a herding dog (von Stephanitz must be turning in his grave)
The KC are complaining that the modern GSD is not "fit for purpose".
Who is to blame? The judges!
The majority of exhibitors like to win (what is the point of competing otherwise?)
If the person in the middle of the ring puts up an over angulated, weak hocked specimen and other judges follow suit, then the breeders and exhibitors are going to aim for this typw of animal.
Show people are not the only ones culpable, the working fraternity tend not to care too much about construction. Do they not realise that a badly constructed animal will break down in time.
I now see that to have an annimal breed surveyed it must have at least the bronze KC good citizenship award.
A lot of show people are up in arms about this, but honestly it is not hard to achieve.
People are prepared to spend money sending animals to schutzhund specialists to attain at least Sch1, but do not seem to be prepared to put the work in themselves.
Gone are the days of the dual champion GSD
Until the breed pull together as one and forgets petty differences I fear for the future of the gsd

Take one basic trained puppy who has some idea of how to sit / down and walk on a lead and allows OWNER to handle examine and brush it.
Start GCDS Bronze training. Attach name tag to collar. Stick poo bag in pocket and have a quick read over the text in the leaflet.
60 minutes later take test.
If you fail it, you need shooting!!!
It's THAT easy to pass it.

I agree Dave and mentioned on another thread that IMO it sets the bar far too low. My friends 14 week old puppy recently passed his bronze test.
I think the argument surrounding it is that it is a KC test, being used in an otherwise WUSV/SV style survey, which has no connection with the KC.
