Just noticed the Hot Topic feature....I think its great....Since I have only been here since 2009, this gives me a chance to go back in time and read some really good topics.....However, after I just clicked on one year for no particular reason,  I noticed that in 2007 there were several threads politically related....

.Moderators,
I'm not trying to start anything, but since posting anything political on here is a BIG NO NO, those could be controversy to remain up...JMO

Nona, I'd just figured politics should be welcomed here, as long as it's politics of "who gets what gsd, how and when. Owning a good gsd in a third-world country is real politics. Good breeder would always want to cut you out because your from a third-world country, so i play good poli-gsd to get what i want nona.

Let me clarify that when I said political threads, I meant threads about government politics, not the politics concerning dog issues....I don't have a problem at all with politics or political views of either kind, being discussed on here..However, some people in the past have really taken it way beyond a civil conversation, and can't agree to to disagree....

Also, since it was listed as a violation of TOS, I was alittle surprised to see it there, since threads with political contents or views have been deleted.....I guess if we could learn how to respect the opinions and views of others, the political threads wouldn't be a problem......

Personally, I'm glad they are still up...Although I would never get involved or comment on a political thread, I do enjoy reading them.....JMO

I think you answered your own question......  You mention threads from 2007.  Since it's only been the last few months there's been consistent moderation that would make sense wouldn't it?    I don't think the whole history could, or should, be cleaned out of anything that would have at one time or another violated either the old or new TOS.  Fresh start and back to dogs.

Those were the old days when we still had freedom of speech and were allowed to express our opinion. Now just a fading memory.........

I never participated in the political posts, but sure was entertaining to read.

Freedom of speech is not involved. You mean the freedom to break all the rules and do what you want? Is that the freedom you are talking about? The freedom to break rules? Society does not even allow you to break rules why should Oli allow the rules to be broken? This is a business. You still have free speech just do not break the rules doing it.

I remember my retired army dad telling me, as he handed me the keys to the car for my first night out with friends way, way too many years ago, "with freedom comes responsibility, don't screw it up".

i love it!  we now have general, breed specific, training, off topic & hot topic.  it should be much easier to find things with it being broken down into sections and a lot less bickering about what is and isn't appropriate posting.  thanks!
