For those using Earthborn Primitive formula the calories are 445 per k/cal cup;  not 717 like was originially stated.  Got this info from manufacturer after I e-mailed them questioning the 717 they have on their web regarding this food.  Best of luck  Nan

I switched my elderly Great Dane to Earthborn Primitive about 2-3 weeks ago and she has gained a notable amount of weight and her coat is much shinier too.  She did fine with the switch as far as intestinal upset etc....I am pleased with Earthborn....

I got some Earthborn yesterday and started 3 dogs on it without any gradual transition--all 3 handled it without any problems. Nice firm stools this morning. I am encouraged so far.

I have become a HUGE fan of it... so far.....
Switched dogs over 6 weeks now.....nothing negative to say...no bad gas, no loose stool, no refusing to eat.
Seems to me....can be a mighty fine food.....time will tell.

I contacted them also Nan.....the number 717 was "gross calories"....and they changed it on their website, because of the confusion to many of us....

Yes and thanks for response about how all are doing on this food.  CRHUERTA;  are  your guys gaining any weight??  I have a hard keeper, an older male (10 l/2) years old;  and he does not like to eat.  Was hoping this to be very palateable for him, but have not gotten any as of yet.  Am still contemplating and cooking for him which he is eating so far;

Some have added a couple of pounds...I would say for sure.
But the biggest thing that I have noticed is...everyone has less stool.  Our adult dogs only eat about 3 cups a day...on average.
I say try it.....you might be pleasantly surprised.

Nan...buy the Tripett Canned Tripe for him as well.  It aids in digestion...so for the babies and the seniors (especially)..it's a wonderful added benefit.  Oh..did I mention that...THEY ALL LOVE IT!   although it stinks to high heaven!
I personally use the New Zealand Lamb & Venison Tripe.
Good luck with the "old gentleman"...

 Robin, that's a chicken*&^% way to feed tripe! Trippett?! Blasphemy!

Compared to real tripe, it smells like a fresh summer breeze!

Going to try it too. I was told and I see it is made by the makers of Propac which doesn't have the best ingredients. Earthborn itself uses Tomato Pomance which is used as Beet Pulp is used, to harden stool.
Also after inquiring I was told they probably do not have their own plant and if they do it is very old. I don't know what that means except who is making the food and what kind of quality control is there?
