I didn't think the money was "only if there was definitive wrongdoing found on the part of any one person or persons". I thought the money was to find Hex, first and foremost. He was looked for and not found for several weeks. Why that is, most of us will never know. I don't want my money back just because there wasn't a "favorable" outcome (meaning Hex wasn't discoverd stolen and alive). I do not believe for one second that Al deliberately misled everyone and that his dog was simply hit by a truck. If this is all that happened, I believe he genuinely believed Hex was stolen. Many looked and didn't see him; why did they suddenly see him that one morning? I don't know. Neither do most of the people posting to this thread. I don't know Al well at all, but have spoken to him now and again over many years and he's sat at my kitchen table and talked dogs. If he improperly jumped to conclusions about his dog, I don't believe it was intentional or orchestrated. I just don't see him as that type of person. If anything, he's guilty of denial and disbelief at the loss of a beloved family member. To counter the allegation that he is greedy and was soliciting donations, I will say that I offered him a very nice puppy out of titled, V rated, KKL1 parents,  free of charge, if he was ready. He could keep him or sell him and use the funds for whatever Hex-related expense he felt best. He told me no, as he was worried that "this" wasn't over and he didn't feel he could guarantee the safety of a pup until he got to the bottom of this nightmare. The man genuinely believed(s?) his dog didn't just run away and get hit by a truck. True or false, I just don't think he made it all up to get money.

I don't know or care what the rest of it is about, frankly, but to keep harping on the money, well, it just seems a bit tacky. Hey, your dog was found dead, so can we all have our money back please? A charitable Hex Memorial Fund is fine by me.
