I myself would rather sell a pup for a lot less money, WITHOUT the papers, then to sell with even limited papers.
Someone that truly only wants a pet, don't give a crap about the papers. And you can say what you want about that practice, but I have come across MORE THAN ONE person that gets a limited registration, only to go get Continental Kennel Club papers on a dog, I put a no breeding with clause on the sale.
Would I buy a dog that way, NO, I wouldn't. I put. A lot of time and effort into my dogs "trying" to ensure I ONLY produce healthy, SOUND dogs, and that is NOT to have someone come along and breed to ANY other German Shepherd out there.
I have paid good money for my dogs, and their breeding rights to try to ensure I am doing right by the breed, AND the new owner.
I did have someone buy a pup years ago, and despite my trying to ensure they too would do right, they turned around and bred the dog, With It's Brother, yeah, I was pissed and since I had a spaying agreement, I took half the guys litter(not before worming and vaccinating the entire litter), and GAVE them pups away.
I will give a full pedigree with the dog, and, if you want to breed one, I will give full registration on a dog that is breedworthy.
I will also GIVE the registration papers when I receive proof the dog was fixed.
I also guarantee my dogs for life from any and ALL genetic defects.
I have a great deal of pride in my dogs. Sorry, if some don't agree with me on the AKC registration thing.
