Quote:
in most breeds you can and will see that most strong producers have quite a bit inbreeding , and a strong poducer doesnot mean a dog that produced 3000 offspring from which for or five are in the picture again
in strong  malinoislines it is more common to use inbreeding than with german shepherds , something to think about

This is very true. The dutch and the french have been breeding GSD like you see Mals and it is starting to show.

I won't quote the rest, but you are dead on.

I do hear a lot about genetic diversity, and how tight breeding will of course destroy that completely...... although there is no actual proof that theory is true.

I do not see it that way at all. If I like BOB and I breed tightly to him, his littermates ect. ect. There is always going to be someone that really liked JIM and has done the same thing, going with this worst case scenario. Now, I like JIM, but geographically, BOB, and his littermates and whatever were all much closer to me. So, X amount of generations later, I just take a trip and go and breed to JIMs great great grandson JAMES.

You will never ever see every breeder breeding really tightly. There will always be someone out there breeding outcrosses every time. We will never lose genetic diversity. There will always be people somewhere to outcross to.

 Hey!!, that only happened once thats what happens when you drink with your 1st cousin...

@ workingdogz, yes a very painful yet powerful statement that I would surely have to agree with you on that one.. Our new pups now all come from titled, x-rayed & genetic's are in place. I just wish more breeder's would do this if not for the sake of the dog.

Bob, you crack me up.

Bob;
You sir, are a man-whore
And for that, I salute you!
