Ive been shipping dogs worldwide for 25 plus years , If you want I can give you an accurate price , and take care of it for you , im in czech rep.

If you PM  me your airport of destination , you will have a all in price in few hours

Does anybody who has familiarity with the ops of this board have a suggestion of how to get a post about information regarding good experiences with Slovakian dogs and breeders?  I have read some posts that have taken quick turn to some harsh words, but instead of going that direction, I am interested in confirming solid breeders to deal with.  Any ideas?  I am just not sure if I simply do a new post, or if there is a category or location I am supposed to select so people can find it easier???  Thanks for any feedback.

the cost to import a puppy from slovakia is from 700 usd if you can get to JFK or 850 usd for other airports. it may be more since I haven't imported a puppy in quite some time...

the euro is high right now (1 to 1.35) so the 500 to 800 euro for a puppy works out to 650 to 1225 USD.

add to this the cost of shipping, and no guarantees......

the "limited diversity" argument is crazy...... importing from europe has been going on for many, many years and all the different bloodlines are well represented here in the usa.....

Many euro breeders will charge for the pick of the litter, but all the best puppies are sold locally to neighbor breeders and local customers... puppies shipped to America are usually what's left over... even with pictures and video.... many times the will sell one and ship another and if you complain they say "send it back and i'll send the one you picked". It will cost more then the puppy's worth to pay to send it back and then pay to have the correct puppy sent in return.

I think the whole point of "guarantee" is rather shallow. Wow, you get a guarantee which means you have to fight and prove to the breeder they should honor it. Lets not forget to mention that as a buyer you chose a specific litter for a reason. What is good about a guarantee if you don't like any other breedings the seller has? Your then stuck as they don't give refunds. You can get a import for $1200 including shipping. A number (not all) of american breeders try to talk people out of importing dogs by frightening them with talk of no warranty/guarantee or saying that all european breeders are scammers, etc. Sorry but search this messageboard and you can find the same with American breeders. Do your research.

a good breeder will honor a guarantee without a fight.

proof is required, of course, but if the OFA, or SV rejects hips..... or if any other "genitic issue" of the certifying organization confirms an issue....there cannot be a fight...

some guarantees state..... proof of (what ever the problem is) proof of spay or neuter, keep your puppy and get the next one a half price... or get the next one free.... as long as the pup has not been used for breeding......

other guarantees state.... return the puppy and get a replacement....

many people will not give up a puppy for a replacement so its not really a guarantee, is it?

if a buyer buys a puppy from a specific litter and it ends up with horrible hips, would that buyer want a puppy from the same breeding - the genitics are the same..... I wouldn't!

if you still insist on importing a puppy, there are some breeders in Slovakia that are turstworthy..

The OP wants to import for whatever reason! Let him import! I guess if he found similar breeding here, he would not have to. He can most likely get the puppy for about $1300 , the same puppy in the US would cost about $1500-$2500 without shipping. Puppy is a crap shoot. So If I can spend almost half of the money for the same thing, I would!

I imported a dog(not a puppy) this past April. Total cost was $1750 USD. That was from the kennel in Slovakia to the airport in the US I picked her up at. From what I understand it's not the flight that costs alot. It's the getting the dog from kennel to the airport that can be expensive.
